re-popping popcorn kernels

I have a quick question. Most of the time we pop popcorn on the stove top however sometimes for a quick fix we pop pre packaged microwave popcorn. Could we take the "duds" from the microwave corn bag and keep them to repop on the stove? Unfortuantely our micro leaves alot of kernels so I'd love to repop them if possible!

Pretty sure you're not supposed to re-pop the duds. LOL Don't know why though...

I don't know if this will help you or not, my DS put a bag of microwave popcorn in the cook the other day and for some reason only 1/4 of the bag popped (I'm not sure what happened, he may not have put it in for long enough) so I poured all of the kernels into a plain brown lunch bag and put it back in the microwave and they popped fine.

'cause I know I have read not to re-pop them too, but I don't know why that would be.

I use a hot air popper and always run the duds through again, and they always all pop the 2nd time.
