Just wondering if the folks here are aware that the staff at WDW restaurants are merciless and brutal toward the people taking pics of their food at WDW restaurants. They may be all smiles and polite to your face, it's their job, but you are being absolutely skewered behind the scenes.

Who cares? I don't think those who take food photos are really that concerned with what the restaurant staff thinks of them. I'm not a big food photo taker, but to each their own. I don't think it's of value to post here to make people feel bad or stupid, which seems like that was your intent.

Who cares?

If that is how the servers feel about it, then they can get over it.

Though I really doubt it is that huge of a thing. As a resort area, they should be used to it. I have seen photos taken of food on cruise ships and other resorts. Comes with the territory.

I have a feeling that some staff make fun of a lot of things that tourists do. I think that many people would.

I don't see any harm in taking a picture of a nicely presented dish or a cute dessert though. It will be a memory after all and one can always delete a picture if the dish turns out to be not so great. :)

I wouldnt think the staff would really give a darn. They are doing their job and getting paid. Why would they care??!?!? :rolleyes1

Not to mention so many people have blogs now a days! Who cares what they think.
Here in LA everyone takes pictures of their food....no big deal.

I really don't care what they say behind the scenes and am not sure why anyone else should, as long as they continue to do their jobs to the best of their ability and don't take it out front.

Besides, the food photos do sometimes inspire guests to patronize their restaurants. So perhaps you should let them know that maybe they shouldn't be so contemptuous.

Your reason for posting this was to....make people feel bad about themselves? I doubt people care what a waiter that they'll never see again thinks of their taking a picture of their food.

I think it says a lot about a person's character (that they are basically not worth my time) if they feel they need to bash someone to make themselves feel superior. Especially over something pretty harmless and trivial.

They'll have PLENTY of people to mock now that the food and wine festival is starting. Lots of food pornography going on then.

My first thought too - who cares??? I'm sure they have alot of things they make fun of people for. No matter what your job is you probably make fun of some people. I'm a trainer and almost fell over when someone wrote on an evaluation of a training course "I don't like to read"!!!!! I'm sure their boss loved that!

Geez, lighten up. My reason for posting was because I thought this was an information sharing board and people might like to know how they're being perceived.

Personally we've taken pictures of food on a couple of occasions (though never at Disney). But knowing that that my fat belly could become a part of a comedy routine for some behind the scene wise guy probably WILL affect my pic taking practice at WDW. But that's just me.

This is likely to be true of ANY hospitality staff anywhere, whether snarling or all smiles. Restaurant staff are pretty notorious for this; don't think it would be any different at Disney. So sure, don't let the smiles fool you, a reasonable thing to point out from time to time. But also a lot of people won't particularly care what the CMs' perception of them is, as noted here already.

I have worked in the hospitality business in the past for many years. The staff makes fun of all kinds of people and situations. Who cares? If it weren't for the customers, they wouldn't have a job. I personally love the food photos. Keep them coming.:cool1::banana:

We haven't carried a camera to the parks or resorts in years, so I don't take pictures of anything. On the rare occasion I do carry my cell phone I guess I could take a picture with that, but I've never used it as a camera and probably would know how to take one with it, if I even remembered. You'd be surprised how much more fun WDW is when you're not encumbered with all that touristy stuff.

Who cares?

Why would they be bothered by this? They need to be busier if they've got time to "skewer" people taking pics of their food. I don't take pics (I don't do trip reports) but appreciate those who do for their reviews. It helps me decide what I'll eat when I'm there.

For example, I would never have known the Butterfinger Cupcake existed before pics on the DIS. I actually enjoyed the photo of the 1/2 eaten cupcake, so I could see what was inside. Imagine how much that guest got "skewered" for taking pics of food they already ate, LOL.

Let me just say...Food pictures have quickly become one of my favorite parts of the DIS. I'll admit, I won't even read a food review if there are no fooc pics.

Too bad...and like someone else said, I have a feeling that the 'staff' at Disney probably make jokes about a lot of what the tourists do. That's okay...everyone needs to vent about their job, and even though we think Disney is 'magical', to the people working, sometimes, it is still a job.

Won't stop me and I doubt if it will stop someone else.

I think it's time to close this now. It really has no relevance to planning or to the restaurants.

As long as I'm not doing anything illegal or immoral I don't care how I'm being perceived. Glad to know my taking pics of food has given the restaurant staff something to talk about. Must be a boring job otherwise.
