Re-gifting. Right or wrong?

...my sister gave me a new, really nice yellow dress that she had either bought or it was given to her, but she hadn't used it. The $100+ price tag was still on it. Well, yellow isn't my color and I weighed more then, so I gave it as a Christmas gift to my coworker. Coworker would have looked great in the dress and did wear that brand....I blacked out the amount of the dress and left the tags. After Christmas my coworker approached me upset saying that the gift cost way too much....I didn't know how to respond, so I told her the truth which is that it was a regift and that I just thought the dress would look beautiful on her and it was new anyway. That was about 5 or 6 years ago and I haven't regifted since (but I do reuse like new gift bags making sure any cards are gone). Last Christmas coworker was complaining about a regift she got from her sister which seems to have been used underwear too big for my co-worker and not her style....I reminded her about my regift years ago and we had a laugh....I guess my new dress wasn't that bad afterall :rotfl:

I don't regift. I'm just very uncomfortable with it, and don't want things re-gifted to me (which has happened on occasion).

If I get a gift I can't use or like, and can't exchange it, I may offer it to someone that I know likes such a thing, but I wouldn't present it as a gift. Or I donate to the local women's shelter or 180 program we have in the area.
