My family will be in DLand June 26th - 30th and are concerned about overcrowding. We usually like to leave the parks for a swim in the afternoon. If we return and they start turning people away due to overcrowding, will we be turned away as well. Can we re-enter with a hand stamp, or sent away with the masses? Thanks for your help.

Based upon others posts, I doubt that will happen to you during the time you are going. We went last August and it was extremely crowded but never got close to closing the gates. You do get a hand stamp when you leave.

The only time I have ever heard of this happening is around christmas time.

DL closes in three phases

1- stop selling tickets
2- stop new entrys if you have a hand stamp you can still enter
3- no entries allowed period

I dont see it getting that crowded but if it does happen to you and you are denied re entry remember it's the fire marshall that said so not DL. Too many people blame it on DL when the parks get over crowded!

Personally I dont think you will have a problem since that's not normally a busy time but with pirates re opening that week you never know!

Gosh, we are going the first week of August, and that is one of my nightmares, too. I read someone's experiences during Christmas time when they closed the parks, and it sounded awful. I know it's necessary, because of a fire hazard, but still makes it a nightmare for those who are wanting to finish the rest of their day in Disneyland.

Actually, DL closes in 5 phases:

Phase 1: stop selling tickets
Phase 2: no new entries (i.e. people have already bought tickets (through travel packages, Disney Store, etc) but have not used them that day)
Phase 3: AP holders can't get in (that haven't been in the parks yet)
Phase 4: DLR hotel guests can no longer make their first entries
Phase 5: No re-entries

As you can see, it takes awhile to get to the no re-entry point, but it has happened in the last year, and not just on holidays.

So, if I'm understanding, the last phase it no re-entrys... so that fares well for me, I think - we're always there bright and early! :) Kat, we'll be there that same week!

Does anyone know if the CMs have an idea when they're getting close? Like, if we were to ask someone upon leaving if chances were good for getting back in, think they'd know? Or would they look at us like we're crazy?

Wow 5 phases sorry to misinform everyone in the trip reports board in the disney disaster thread someone said it closed in three phases. I thought I had the right info! You learn something new each day!

Whenever we have asked we were told information that was incorrect. One time we were told they would definately be closing in less than an hour, yet they were still selling tickets. So the CMs are pretty clueless (well the general ones that are at the exit gates).

You should have no problem with hitting capacity in June. Also, if DL is too crowded and you have hoppers you can go over to DCA. I know not the same. I have never had a problem at any time other than easter break and between xmas and NY. We go every year on NYE, July 4th, and July 17th, and have never not been admitted or had any problems whatsoever on any of these dates.
