I got a pretty good deal using one of the AP rates using a code that expires next week. I haven't been able to make up my mind about adding dining or not, and am wondering if I decide after the code has expired will I lose my room only AP rate? I've read that I can add dining up until a few days before arrival (each thread seems to have a different date, 3 days, 5 days, etc), I just haven't read whether changing to a "package" like that would negate the room rates I already have?

changing to an AP package with dining won't change the AP room rate (we have two AP pkgs booked in the next few months). but i'm not sure about whether you will be able to make the room only reservation into an AP package if the booking date has expired. I'm guessing it wouldn't be an issue, but I would call to make sure.

I would book the dining when a code is still good. Worse case you can remove it later.
Seems to be much easier to remove than to add.

You should be able to book the room at the rate you want, and you can add dining to that any time up to a few days before you leave without changing your resort rate.

Except you need to make sure you either don't take the insurance or change the package within 14 days. Otherwise you will loose the insurance money. We just went through this although they didn't end up charging us the insurance amount. I was pressured into adding the dining and finally decided that Tables in Wonderland would work better for our family.

This is correct, I was assuming getting a room only rate and then adding dining right before the trip. I highly recommend waiting even though yes they do pressure you every time you call to add the dining. Once you add dining you have to pay a fee to change your reservation, and you never know what might happen. I learned the hard way when my DH and DS17 decided not to come with us, but to drive separately and only spend 3 of our 8 days at the resort.

What kind of AP code are you talking about? Is it like a PIN you get in the mail?
