Is anyone familiar with the ins and outs of re-allocating points (different contracts) between reservations? Here's my scenario: I had banked VB points--used them for a HH ressie(along with some current points). I also had current VB and OKW points--used them for a BC ressie which was a rental. When I booked these, Member Services said that I could call at a later time (when I was sure that the rental was a done deal) and just have them (MS) "re-allocate" (her words) the points. I specifically asked if this would mean cancelling and re-booking the ressies because I did NOT want to have to do that. She said no and that it would be no problem.

Today I did just that--called Member Services and asked them to "re-allocate" my points so that the banked points would be used on the BC ressie. Now I'm told that it's not possible to do without re-booking and that there is no availability at either resort if I'd want to cancel and then rebook. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they were all in a meeting.

OK, experts--which cast member was correct? The first one who said it would be no problem or the second one? (who seemed to be confused about everything anyway!!)

By the way, someone from management is supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know if they were able to work anything out.

I think the problem is that you are using non-resort points...that is, you are using nonBCV points to make a BCV reservation...If you had only BCV points involved I think (I hope) it makes no difference....what they don't want is people using one resort points to make the reservation (at 11 months) then switching and covering the points with a different resort's points...All of this is conjecture and I really am interested in what you find out as I have a similar problem coming up but all will involve one resort and one resort points...and I am hoping that the re-allocation thing will be okay.

Well, if you were switching from home resort points to non-home resort points, the second cast member is without question correct.
However, if I am reading this correctly, you are switching the resie from non-home resort points to home resort points. Personally, I don't see the harm in that, but I am sure somebody here will point out what I am missing...

I think the second CM is correct. You are using non-home points for the reservation at BCV you wish to re-allocate and even though that ressie was originally made with non-home points, they'll need to cancel and rebook the reservation to use the banked points.

The first CM would be correct if there is no wait list- point reallocations can be done to facilitate the full utilization of your points. If you were using all home-resort points, the reallocation should be allowed, IMHO, since they would all be from the same home for the same resort.

Admittedly, this a fine line distinction and may be subject to some interpretation by the CM's involved.

Good Luck with the supervisor!

The second CM is correct and there is technically no difference whether it's home resort points or not. While there have been a couple of people that reported being able to substitute the points when it was home resorts points, there's no technical reason it should make any difference. You got the wrong info the first time for whatever reason. You could wait list to use the banked points then cancel the current reservation if it comes through.

I'm assuming you are cancelling the HH reservation thus freeing up the banked VB points.
