Re: "adult" kids eating off kids menus, what if you're on dining plan?

I skimmed through the other thread regarding the "kid" who was not allowed to order off a kids menu, and I apologize if I missed the answer, but is this an issue if you're on the dining plan? I would think more problems would arise if you're paying OOP for the meal. We're going next month on the dining plan, and my 10 year old would prefer to eat off the kids menu, so just curious if we'll have an issue or not.

Thanks!

I'm not sure, but on the DDP you'll be paying for the adult plan. It seems like a waste of money if you're paying $50 a night for macaroni and cheese. Disney is very good about picky eaters though, and at TS restaurants you can probably sub sides for fries and get plain steaks and/or pasta, etc.

it may depend on the restaurant. you may also try to modify the meals a bit. taking the sauce off the steak and adding fries and mac and cheese instead of asparagus and fancy potatoes. when you have picky or allergic eaters in your family, you have to look at the menus from a creative angle sometimes. some places may also have an adult portion of a childs meal that's not listed on the menu as well. be sure to ask!!

where are you planning to eat?

Same issue if you are on the dining plan as it would be if you were not. It is up to the restaurant. It's an extra concern that you will be using a dining credit for which you paid an adult price for a child's meal, unless you just purchase the child's meal and save the adult dining credit for later use by the rest of the party.

Thanks for the replies. I actually just looked at the menus with my son, and the restaurants I'd have issues at would be Yak & Yeti, San Angel Inn, and the Castle. Hoping we won't have a problem. Or as someone mentioned, I could always pay out of pocket for it, and save the TS credits. No biggie - just curious. :)

I have a DD who is 20 and still loves chick pcs and fries, rather eat that than a steak, so in the past, if they allow me, i just order her something from the kids and pay, save the free dining , i would use it eventually. There are more places I would like to go, but knowing she would only eat from the kids menu

This is a good idea I think we may try for our next trip. We want to try a signature(FF) but can't imagine my DS10 wanting a NY Strip over the kids menu. Didn't know we could just pay oop for his meal and use our credits for ours.

Again I am sure it is different at every TS setting but we had an awesome server at Kona.

My "Adult" 10yr old DS wanted the kids micky ravaoli the server had the kitchen make him an Adult sized order of it. He loved it.

He still got the Adult dessert which was a kona kone and when my DS 4 got upset that he did not get such an awesome dessert as his brother our server was quick to get him one anyway.

Again I am sure this will not happen everywhere and we were just given a little bit of pixie dust from a fantastic server.

Our server was so attentive and awesome with the kids I would have been impressed even with out the pixie dust. I was so happy with the service I did something I rarely do and that was ask to speak to the manager to express how happy I was...
