Hello all,
I've posted on a few other threads, but thought it might be prudent to just start my own. I just deposited 184,000 Wyndham points into RCI to begin searching for next July. I would ideally like to check-in July 20, 21, or 22 as that would be the week that I turn 30 and our son would turn one. We will have our four-year-old daughter and almost one-year-old son with us on the trip and would like to stay at a DVC that is easily accessible to MK (whether by boat, monorail, or walking is fine). We will have a double stroller with us and wouldn't rent a car this trip so we wouldn't have to mess with toting 2 carseats with luggage. Most of our time is spent at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We are military and will purchase the four day promo so we would like to stay at a place that has a great pool for our kids since we'll spend at least one day there for most of the day.

We've always stayed at Bonnet Creek in the past and rented a car. It's not that we couldn't stay at Bonnet Creek and wouldn't love it, it's just that for this trip we'd like to give staying on property a try.

Our possible travel dates are June 16-the last week in July.

Based on your prior experiences with trades and what you've seen in the system, what would you do for a search at this point? Focus on the week (which would be special) or focus on staying at one of the "nicer" resorts like BLT or AKV (no insult intended to the others

By the way, if I have any say, we will be back in 2013 and 2014.

Thanks so much in advance!!! :lovestruc

Your chances of success are best if you can be flexible about as many of date, resort choice, and unit size as possible.

Based on the 184K deposit number, I assume you are you are looking for a 2BR. You also have only one weekend during which you are able to check in. Late July is not a particularly hard exchange but even still---I would recommend being open to as many resorts as possible. If you are willing to open your dates, you could cut back on your resort choices a little bit, but BLT has been the most rarely deposited, and AKV seems to not be too far behind, so you'd still want to broaden a little bit.

Overall, the second half of July seems to be more common than the four weeks prior.

Thanks, Brian. I should add that we don't have to have a two bedroom, I just put that many in there that if only a two bedroom came up, we could get it. We wouldn't want a studio, but I think I have convinced DH that we could stay in a one bedroom.

My advice is to keep checking!!! I have seen many come and go (there 1 day gone the next). I have seen studio, 1 and 2 bdrm at AKV, SSR, OKW, BCV, and BWV. My parents ended up booking a week stay offsite for presidents week because nothing was coming up (we are staying at THV on DVC points) and wouldn't you know 48 hours after booking offsite a 1 bedroom came up for SSR that week. RCI let her switch resorts so we are very excited!!! I keep checking everyday and nothing else has come up for that week. That is my experience - I know very little about the whole exchange process since I only own DVC but I am trying to learn and help mom and dad get the best exchanges they can!
