My aunt has 2 timeshares, (one in Orlando and one in Virginia), both with RCI. When she tried to make a trade for a DVC resort they tell her since she has a place in Orlando she is not allowed to trade into DVC even if she is trying to trade her VA property.

I do understand that no Orlando property to trade into DVC because DVC would be overwhelmed, but I don't understand the rule that states if you own any property in Orlando your accoount is not allowed to trade into DVC.

I've talked to RCI about this and they don't have an answer except to quote the rule.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If she is in RCI Points, the RCI representative is correct. If you own any Orlando resorts in your Points account, you are barred from any Orlando-area DVC exchanges, because "points are points" and there is no way to track them.

If she is in RCI Weeks, then I believe the rep is mistaken, but that's not terribly unusual. She can always complete the exchange on her own using the web site. However, now that it is possible to have "leftover" credits on your Weeks account, and combine two (or more) deposit lines into one, she must be careful to *never* mix credits from the Orlando weeks with the Virginia weeks. If she does, the combination is "tainted".

Thanks Brian. That does clarify things. She is a weeks member and I advise her to never mix the two properties with combinations.

She does have to combine but now she knows never mix the two properties.

Not sure why This got moved from Member Services??? The discription says RCI for it.

DVC members can trade OUT through RCI.

you are discussing trading IN through RCI using a non-DVC timeshare.

no biggie, but that's probably the reason for the move...
