Cypress Pointe Resort is very nice and was just remodeled. Adjacent is Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. Slightly newer and has an elevator if that's a must for you. Not sure about the shuttle. It's been a few years since we stayed there and we had a car. Proximity to WDW is awesome!

In Sept. we stayed at Hilton Grand Vacation Club @ Sea World. It was a beautiful resort and close enough to SW, you could walk. Sorry but again not sure about the shuttle. They offered so many activities/amenities for guests, I'd be shocked if they didn't have one.

We own at Summer Bay in Kissimmee and I know for certain they have a free shuttle to WDW but it's very limited. It's nice, but a little further than the 2 above mentioned resorts.(about 6 miles to WDW) I believe they charge for shuttles to SW or US/IOA.

Also Sheraton Vistana has lots of availability but gets very mixed reviews. Apparently some sections are new and some much older and in need of remodeling. It's hit or miss what you might get. Recently it's been downgraded from Gold Crown to Silver Crown so that tells me something...:scared: There are plenty of Gold Crowns in the Orlando area to choose from so why settle?

For most off-site places unless you have a major driving phobia, it's best to rent a car. You may end up spending a lot of precious vac. time waiting for a shuttle or having to change plans to conform to shuttle schedules.
IMHO, Car=Freedom! :thumbsup2
Good luck!
ps. we got the Hilton above as an Extra Vacation for $404 incl. tax for the week. Huge 2 br w/ jacuzzi. There are usually lots of Last Calls too. We got a 1 br for my parents at Summer Bay for only like $129/week. My point is, you don't necessarily have to trade your week or give up your home resort to go to Orlando, unless you want holiday weeks. There's lots of availability. ;)

I agree on the car issue. We were just there for the first time. I had never even rented a car before but we found the driving to be very manageable. Honestly, I was a little bit nervous about the whole thing but once we were there and on the road it was great! The freedom to go elsewhere was wonderful, also. We shopped at a few of the many stores on rt. 192 and also found a Super Walmart on rt. 27, which saved us a lot of money on food, since we were staying at Celebration World Resort, which had a kitchen and we saved a lot on food. Also, there are a ton of restaurants on rt. 192 to choose from if you want to eat out somewhere else besides Disney.
