The week before Easter was deposited to the space bank just a few days ago. Here are the TPU values:

So, not quite as high as Dean was suspecting, but almost certainly out of reach for a Smuggs studio.

We own a weeks week. We combined two of our banked weeks which had a total trade value of 34,000. It "cost" us 25,000 trade value points to get a 2 bedroom BWV for this September. We booked that in April of this year. We have the 9,000 extra points in our RCI account to use at another time.

I don't know if this makes a difference... but they don't have points..they have weeks... They refuse to switch to points.

Maybe I will look into going another time other than Easter week....maybe a second trip

It makes a big difference, not necessarily better or worse though. I have both and use them for different things. If you get away from Easter and Xmas, you will have a lot more options, unless they have some of the few good trading weeks at smuggs, with most studio deposits there you don't stand much chance for reasonable options for Easter (week before or after) and this includes VV. However, as you get closer, it's possible the TPU needed will drop IF there are any weeks remaining.

You said they had 17 weeks at Smuggs - they could do a 99 dollar combine on RCI and up their TPU.

IF THEY OWN WEEK 7 at Smuggs then they have great TPU - 44 Points for a Studio (mini) - smallest unit at Smuggs gives 44 points for Week 7. If they own other winter weeks they are looking at 21 points and having to do a combine of 2 weeks. If they own a week in the spring or fall the TPU could be around 10, which in that case they would need to combine 4 weeks to trade. So it depends on which week they own. If they only want a Studio in DVC then they only need 22 points.

Also, the week before Easter for Disney does not get deposited that much for DVC. Bonnet Creek or Vistana might be a better choice. You have to have a ongoing search or a keen eye to pick up prime weeks at DVC.

Good luck! As someone else mentioned use the deposit calculator on RCI to figure out what TPU you will get for. To trade into DVC you will need the following:

22 - Studio
32 - 1 bedroom
36 - 2 bedroom

By the way there is a 1 bedroom for Aug 13th 2011 (this week) for DVC Animal Kingdom Villas for only 10 TPU - must have been a late deposit or someone cancelling their reservation late - I would snag it if I had vacation left and could get there!
