We were just contacted by a company asking if we wanted to sell our getaway weeks? I have no idea what this is...is this a scam? He said something about making around 6k at the end of it. I was like "Uhh what? Can you send me some information I have no idea what you are talking about" but the email he sent still makes no sense to me.

Yes, it’s a scam - don’t answer any more calls from them, don’t talk to them, block their number, delete their email, send anything else from them to your Junk Mail folder.

RCI Getaway weeks cannot be sold by you, only by RCI.

It goes like this:
1. you pay for a getaway week
2. they list it for rent (which is a violation of the terms)
3. if they rent it, they keep some money and give you some money
4. if they don't rent it, you're out the money

So, first of all, this might not even be possible with DVC anymore since we switched from RCI to II. Second, you risk losing money. And third, you risk losing your whole RCI account. And remember, the reason getaway weeks are available is because nobody has booked them, which seems like a good indication that it will be difficult to rent.

Quick reminder that since DVC is deeded property, owners names and addresses are public record in the county where the resort is located. Not difficult for scammers to obtain that name and address info, and cross reference with other databases to get phone numbers and email addresses.
