RCI for DVC - Issues

Does DVC depost 2BR -- that may be killing the search. I have a 35 TPU unit on the Cape and an ongoing search for all DVC except for OKW and SSR for end of July through early August 2011 was filled in just over a week at BWV. I requested just a 1BR though.

Yes, for sure they do deposit 2 BDRs, but not as many as 1 bdrs and studios.

You can combine two year's units of the USVI resort and have 30.

I understand that. :) But I don't know if I want to give that up. Hoping to get back to the USVI next year (was going to go this year, but we're in the middle of a major budget buster). Which would mean, we would have to use up 2013 and 2014.

Actually, that may still work out. I think we weren't going until my DGD's 6th birthday anyway (2014).

How many bedrooms would we get for our 30? We'd probably go in late October or early November. We would probably need at least two.

Or should we look into Bonnet Creek (in which we could easily get two bedrooms).

I agree with this! We were searching for a 2Br mid Oct, and nothing at all was 'available' not even a studio for over a week of me searching.. then one day out of the blue (2 days ago) I signed on and did a search assuming I was wasting my time and waiting for the little box to say "Nothing available" but was socked to see 68 units. Of those 68, I think 3 were 2 Bedrooms. We went ahead and booked on in July and gave up on my October search... maybe next year! LOL

I didn't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but you can only book 10months out. Perhaps that is the issue?

I don't want to have to book a value or moderate and then re-book through RCI later - I would probably have to pay a cancellation fee on the first room.

With a room only booking, there's no cancel fee as long as you cancel it something like 5 days before arrival. (check the T&C as you book for the exact number of days, but I think I'm close to being correct)

For a package it's 45 days out, but room-only is much easier. You will be paying a deposit of one night's charge, but that's refundable as long as you cancel in the right timeframe.
