RCI Exchange Question

Hello everyone,

We wanted to do an exchange to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at the Lagoon Tower in HI for January of 2011. Is it too early to call MS now? What exactly is the process for an exchange? When do they charge the $95?

Also if anyone has been to this resort, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

I'd request now since you know what you want. You won't get it for some time but will find yourself ahead of some others who might request later. All you do is call and tell them what you want and since it's not available, put in an ongoing request. The $95 fee is paid at that time and is refundable if you don't match or cancel prior to a match. The reality is you don't have a good chance of success for this request but you have no chance if you don't ask, and ask early.

Chances are low for a number of reasons, the answers to all your questions are Yes/Yes/Yes. As a rule, those that own the good stuff don't deposit and either use, rent out or trade privately. Other Hilton members will have first crack, DVC isn't that great of trade power and Hilton likely controls the weeks deposited just like DVC does. It remains to be seen exactly how well DVC will hold up from a trade power standpoint with RCI, with II, it was good but not great. Still, some will be successful if they try so no reason not to try though you need to be able to wait until a few months out to give up as most exchanges with Hilton will be shorter notice than many other RCI options.
