Hi. New here! I'm looking to book a DVC resort for November as a celebratory trip for my husband's return from deployment. I've set up an ongoing search, for the entire month, any resort, but set it up for a 2 bedroom as it will be us and our two kiddos (4 and 2), and I thought the space would be nice. Should I not risk it and lower the minimum bedroom size to a 1-bedroom? Or should I be fine with a 2-bedroom request?

I REEEEEAAAALLLLY don't want to mess up our chances of actually getting to stay on Disney property. I think this trip will be perfect for the kids to reacquaint with daddy- someone please help me make sure I get this right!!!!

:scared:

How far out did you start your ongoing search (relative to travel dates)? How wide a net did you throw with respect to travel dates and resort choices? How strong is your trader?

If you started the search at least a year out and have all the WDW resorts listed and have at least an 8-week window of travel dates and have at least 60 TPU available ... you might stand a chance for the 2BR unit. Given "all DVC at WDW but just the month of November" ... hmm ... if the search were started sufficiently early enough and you have sufficient TPU ... it might still be a reasonable shot.

FWIW, 1BR units for recent summer travel dates have been running 52TPU. Yes, widening the search to include 2BR units would likely increase your chances for a match -- but personally I'd rather a 2BR off-site (easier match) to a 1BR on-site given the return from deployment? ;)

BIG thing to check: Your account isn't blocked from trading into DVC, is it? (You aren't trying to trade an Orlando timeshare into DVC, for example?)

More info: If you are exchanging from a 'club' that has its own exchange grid (Worldmark, Hilton Vacation Club, and similar) then ignore my comments re: TPU.

We started the search last week, and yes, we're using worldmark. I was getting so confused with the tpu. Lol.

Worldmark is an excellent trader! Best wishes on your exchange and travel planning!

I started my search in May of last year with a Rci exchange for a 2 bedroom. I got my match after 7 months but mine was more restricted as I was looking at a specific week in July. Give it a month or two hopefully you will get exactly what you want

I've gotten my ongoing searches started closer-in than that, and for 2 bedroom DVC also. I think it will come through given the fact that you are open to an entire month's worth of dates, and my guess is that it will be AKV or SSR. That has been consistent with my experience anyways, probably because both are larger resorts.

Your chances of success are much better for a 1 BR, I'd change to a 1 BR OR even better, set up separate searches for each unit size if possible and cancel once you get the one you want.
