I got a postcard in the mail today saying we qualify for a $12 settlement regarding a class action suit with RCI. Anyone else get this yet? I didn't know anything about it. :confused3

I got 1 too. Not sure when it came because we just got home from vacation today and it was in the pile of mail.

A whole $12!!! :lmao: The lawyers will get millions.

So no one really knows anything about it? :lmao:

We laughed about the $12 too, but it's $12 more for us to spend on the Fantasy in less than 3 weeks! :thumbsup2

We never used RCI exchange though--does it matter?

It seemed like users on tugbbs were saying you had to claim spefic instances that you could not get a RCI trade on a lengthy application form... but I'm interested in hearing more about this.

I received the same postcard today also. We only stayed in an RCI property once and it was on an incentive that was given to us when we bought our AKV points. Can't even imagine how I would qualify or how the got my name.

I saw something about a form to fill out and then I tossed the postcard in the garbage. With 2 kids starting in new schools this fall, I have more forms to fill out than you can imagine. Not worth it for $12.

I tossed the card before I even read that it was for only $12! :rotfl:

I guess now I know what I missed.

Yeah, we got it too, but we've never stayed at an RCI property, so it went in the recycle.

DW saw the post card and asked me "why is DVC affiliated with them?" (RCI a company with questionable ethics.) It didn't help the case when I pointed out that RCI settled a similiar lawsuit ~3 years back.

Just returned from business trip to Colorado and saw it in stack of mail. We've never stayed through RCI because of the complications and availability Not worth the $12. Recylcle.

I think this (in my opinion a bad deal) dates back to when the previous DVC president and the previous head of WDW where still there. Both are gone now but I am sure there was a pile of money made or promised somewhere along the line...smjj

though the other lawsuit was about RCI renting out the best of the timeshares and saying to exchangers that they were gone - when they were not.

really though that was stopped last time.:confused3

Apart from the 24 Fitness class action form we did, that's the easiest claim form I think I've ever seen!

Did you have a problem, yes or no. If yes, who are you, where do you own, when did you have the problem? Sign. Send.

If I'd had a problem with RCI, I'd definitely be sending it in. The $20 we got from 24 Fitness was worth it, and the $12 would be worth it, too!

Since we didn't exchange with RCI I don't know if we qualify but if we don't take the $12 then the lawyers get that as well as their fees so I figure I might as well file, it only takes about 2 minutes online and the worst they can tell me is I don't qualify.

We never have used our DVC points for anything but Disney stays, so not sure why we got the postcard. For $12, I'm not going to pursue it. Recycle!!

As a DVC owner, I received 2 cards today, too. I've never used RCI but have decided to wait until the form is mailed out in August to see how involved it is before I decide to send back or recycle. :confused3

When you read the claim form, it asks for the dates when you tried to get RCI trades. If you didn't try for any RCI trades, you have no claim.

We got two in the mail yesterday and will be recycling the cards today.
