Sounds like I'll really have to pay attention then from 30 to 45 days before our trip if we don't get something booked through rci before then. At that point, I can easily cancel DVC and not have a problem with my points.

I'd still prefer getting it handled sooner rather than later!

Ack! For the first time since I started to check in February,there is a 2 bedroom at OKW Dec 3-10 and a one bedroom at Saratoga for Dec 4-11.

I need the two bedroom for Dec 4- 11 so neither of those match what I want to book. I'm still hoping for AKV two bedroom for Dec 4 - 11. We have invited my DH's sister and husband to join us and they LOVE VWL. I am pretty sure there is no hope for a week at VWL in a 2 bedroom, but I'd grab it in a second if it came up.

If if were just DH and me, I'd take the one bedroom at Saratoga. But DH's parents are coming, too, and we think they'd love AKV. So, if we don't get something with their RCI points, maybe we'll just stick with the VWL and AKV split reservation that I've already made.

So much for waiting. After talking to the inlaws, we've booked a 2 bedroom at OKW for Dec 3-10 through RCI using their RCI points. They have RCI points coming out of their ears as they have not been taking vacations so they had 48,000 points left from UY 2007 and 72,500 each for UY 2008 and 2009 to use. We've just scratched the surface using 69,500 of the 193,000 available for the week at OKW. Now I'm starting to watch next March to see if DH and I can use some of the inlaw points for our week trip rather than using our own DVC points at AKV.

Dec 3 is now an extra night so either the inlaws can all go a day early (DH and I won't get there until Dec 4) or we can all go Dec 4 and know that our villa will be ready for us early as we have it reserved for Dec 3, too.

I'm keeping Dec 9 and 10 at Kidani using our DVC points so Dec 9 will go to waste on the RCI reservation at OKW. But that also means we won't be homeess on Dec 9 when we move to AKV. We can move anytime during the day as we'll have two villas booked for the night of Dec 9 and don't actually have to check out of OKW until the morning of Dec 10.

I'm sad giving up our split stay between VWL and AKV to do OKW and AKV instead. But I've never stayed at OKW so we'll try it this trip and see if we love it as much as some people here at the DIS. I know I'll miss VWL at Christmas though...

This is one of the reasons that even though I'm a trader, I generally try to talk people out of buying to trade. It takes nerves of steel, for sure.

This is true to a degree with all resorts, If arriving late, esp a day late, always confirm with the resort.
