I don't know how other feel but I sometimes feel like the poor relation when it comes to disney, we own DVC points and we have only had the pleasure since last November, but one thing seems to come to light is that well, Disney as a whole is not really keen on DVC members, O.K I know that I want alot out of my membership, as a hugh disney fan with a young son who is Mickey mad who wouldn't.
I have tried to upgrade a disney to the next cat up and O.K I really want a cat 3 but I was somewhat singgered out by the cruise line staff and told to cancel my points and pay with cash and I could have what I wanted, I was prepared to pay the cash diffrence, at the end of the day what is there problem.
This has lead me to believe that well Disney are happy to cash in on the hugh revenue this club make it but aren't really happy give owners the first class treatment they deserve. Don't get me wrong I am more than happy with my purchase, but perhaps I expected alittle to much.
Unless you pay with dollars disney don't seem to look at you in quite the same way, and the service isn't quite as polished.
Anyone else thoughs would be greatly appreciated.

benny,

Don't take this a a slap against DVC members. It is the Cruiselines policies to offer no promotions or discounts (DVC is a promotional offer) on Cats 1, 2, or 3. I have heard rumors that sometimes these rooms can only be purchased (with cash) if you buy a full Park and Cruise Package. This is why you cannot upgrade. It is not because you are DVC.

I guess your right, but with this vacation everything I seem to try and do, I seem to draw a blank, I read on one site you can do something and I try to do it and well, I am a DVC member hence not paying in cash, so I'm not so high on the priorty list. I don't mean to moan, I guess I've just had one of those days.
Don't get me wrong purchasing with Disney was the best thing I have done for my family, we are from the U.K and have been lucky enough to come over to Florida three times in the past two years, and including this visit that will mount upto 12 weeks not bad ah, and this one is only possible because of the DVC, but hay I just had to get it off my cheast.
Thanks once again.
Bernadette;) ;)

The other thing to keep in mind is that we are a membership program whose members should be treated equally. When an "upgrade" for you would mean someone else is paying with additional points for the same room, it's not fair to the other member. The way to keep it "fair" is to not upgrade anyone. Just as they don't allow DVC members to pay a cash difference to upgrade to concierge in the resorts I guess they don't allow cash upgrades for cruise line upgrades. No upgrades for anyone keeps it fair for everyone.

I can kinda understand wha you mean not with the cruise but last month we were in Disney. PI offered 10% for DVC I thought great used that then in a book at the outlet mall there was a coupon for 20% I know it was only 10% but I should (we) should get the best deals offered but that is JMI

I also think that part of the reason that they do not offer cat 1-3 rooms on points is because there aren't as many of them and they tend to fill up quickly. By the time the 11 month window rolls around those rooms are booked.

It's easy to feel cheated but personally I was very happy to be able to take the cruise on points this past April. At least we do have that option as DVC members.
