DPReview compared three RAW converters and while all of them had their strong points one of the most interesting was highlight recovery. Use the "out of the camera" jpg and we will be tossing away detail but two of the converters did an amazing job with pulling the detail out of the "washed out" area.
It is also a good example of why we should use raw instead of jpg.
