First, it is a DEPUTY, not a Sherrif. There is ONE Sheriff and there are many Sherrif's DEPUTIES. Sorry, that just annoys me.
Second, I would MYOB. You don't know what his work arrangement is. You don't know if he is a supervisor, you don't know if he serves warrants, works as a SRO, works as a court deputy, etc. Plus, it could make for a very uncomfortable neighbor situation.
Also, I would like to add that DH is a police officer (well, sergeant now) and people making false accusations and false inquiries have caused us a lot of problems. It hasn't affected his professional life (thus the promotion), but it has caused a lot of strain in our personal lives. ETA: I also wanted to add that of our biggest PITAs have been neighbors. We finally had to hire an attorney to get one couple to back off. Basically, they don't like him because he is the po-po.
