Rats chasing mice in Magic Kingdom

My husband, self, and another couple stayed at the tree houses at Disney world 11/2/13 through 11/9/2013 . We have been going to Disney world once or twice a year for the past twelve years . On our last visit , as we were about to enter the Contemporary ( we had reservations at the California Grill) a very large RAT ran across the sidewalk in front of us!!!..... But that was not our last rat sighting.... The day we went to Epcot we saw a rat run into the food booth by Africa , AND we saw a rat running by the Mexico booth! There is CLEARLY a RAT infestation at Disney world right now. I know they wouldn't be able to keep them all out , but THREE sightings??!! I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to eat from one of the festival booths again! YUCK

I saw my first rat in mid October. It was on the right side of the walkway by the art store at the front of Epcot. It was big and ran straight from spaceship earth to some shrubs right in front of us.

But I felt safe, because I had on my brand-new, electric yellow MagicBand!

Maybe this is the country girl in me, but I'd fully expect rats and mice to be in a place like WDW and seeing one or a few wouldn't faze me at all. Heck, we've seen deer, fox, otters, vultures, gators, snakes, lizards, etc. in the parks or at Disney resorts - why would you think that a place could have all of those things but would somehow keep rodents out? I'm sure they do what they can with traps and such but getting rid of them entirely would be impossible.

Besides, hasn't anyone seen the Ratatouille Pixar short? Rats are our friends. ;)

:rotfl2: If we see any type of rodents, my mother is going to freak. And then she'll make me take care of it. I just hope a snake comes around so I can see the "snake dance" again. Its been a while since a snake has crossed her path. I told her about the snake that was found in a suitcase at POP and she made me change to room reservation. I didn't bother telling her that won't make a difference. :rotfl: Animals, other than mealworms, don't bother me much and I like hearing/seeing other people's reactions to them.

As long as the rats are running around on the ground and not dancing on the tables, I won't have a problem (now that Remy's gone :()

Oh, why did I read this thread so soon before bed?

Has anyone else ever NOT encountered rats, mice, snakes, alligators, or palmetto bugs at WDW? I've been to Disney seven times and am starting to think I've just been insanely lucky! :confused3 ... But I'm also starting to worry that I must be due. :scared1:

I just made my 25th trip to WDW and have never encountered any of these either. But, now, I will be on the lookout and hopefully, will not see any. I wonder how many times there has been a rat closeby. They are disgusting and will bite. In the Midwest, they are not welcome!!!! :sad2:

Everyone is missing the obvious point....

This is all of course due to the implementation of FP+, Magic Bands and Free Dining!!!

FP+ means people don't have to stand in as many lines and/or will not even attempt to wait on the sudden 780 minute Stand By line for CoP caused by FP+. This means more people are eating more, and creating more trash. :furious:

Magic Bands are causing people to have to wait hours and hours to get into the parks, get into attractions, etc, so they are obviously missing meals and have to make up for it by eating on the run (or on the aforementioned 780 minute stand by line of CoP), and creating more trash and uneaten food. :rolleyes2

Free Dining is making the parks more crowded and causing people to eat more and be so full that they are using credits just to get Mickey Bars and Dole Whips and throwing them out just to get their money's (free?) worth. This is causing more trash and more uneaten food. :mic:

DAMN YOU FAST PASS PLUS!!!!

DAMN YOU MAGIC BANDS!!!!

DAMN YOU FREE DINING!!!!

DISNEY IS AWFUL!!!!

Please tune in later for my post entitled "How FP+, MB's and Free Dining are keeping the rodent population down at WDW"
