Rates to compete with sept free dining?

Does anyone know or THINK that there will be some better rates or packages to compete with the WDW Free Dining time period?

um, no.
they don't 'compete' in that way.

not everyone feels the "free dining at the motherland" is a deal.

We've gotten rates of $139/night at RPR in September. I don't think it is to compete with Disney but just because it is a very slow month.

Mac wasn't being snotty at all. She stays at both Disney and Universal onsite every year.

Last Sept our rate was $165 (ish) Labor day weekend and the following week.
We used the Stay More Save More rate but it looks like an annual pass holder rate could be even better, the pass is not that much more than a regular multiday ticket.

Really for a Deluxe hotel they "are" competing with free dining. For example free dining is worth right at $125 for an average family. The Boardwalk at DW would be $350 (ish) per night dining included.

Boardwalk dining + hotel room = $350
RPR out of pocket dining + hotel room = $290

Universal doesn't compete like that..You MAY see lower rates, but ever since Harry Potter opened , they aren't as plentiful anymore.

Free Dining worked out to about $2500 for us last December. Hard for any other deals to compete with that.

Perhaps you didn't mean to come off as rude, but the post did seem snarky. I think it was the "um" at the beginning. Usually, when someone says "um, no" in a verbal conversion it is said with a condescending tone. I think just a simple "No" would have set the whole tone of the reply.

We are planning a trip in Sept ourselves. I see Universal has their own meal plan and was wondering if they were going to offer it for free as Disney sometimes does.

Universals Meal plan is not anything like Disneys.It is purchased by the day and only includes a couple of select counter service eateries in each park( not all of them).Drinks aren't included either.I doubt they will offer it free or if they ever do.They may be competitors with Disney, but they don't need to offer the deep discounts to bring the people in.Harry Potter has brought plenty of people over to the darkside.As a matter of fact, since Harry Potter section opened, the ticket specials and dirt cheap resort rates are scarce.You find some deals, but nothing like they used to have

You won't get free dining although there are other perks. You do get the free unlimited express pass. Also, with the youfirst perks (Loews program) the more you stay the more benefits you receive. As a platinum member I get a $100 food and beverage credit with each stay (even if it is just one night) as well as free internet and a free suite upgrade.

To the experienced here, do the rates usually drop the closer you get to September (or whatever month you go) or are the current discounts probably as low as the price will go?

The rates usually drop as you get closer but if you get too close the good rates may be all bought up.
