rates on rental cars?????

I don't rent cars often, and I am going to WDW in April. I thought now is the time to start looking into renting one for the trip. I went to Mary's site, but there are so many possibilities, that it is a bit overwhelming. So I thought to ask you guys, if you don't mind, what is a real good rate on a Full size 4 door sedan for P/U late on the 26th, returning it early on the 3rd? Is that considered 8 days to them, since two are only half days?

I am asking so that if the first place I go has an awesome rate, I won't kill myself trying to get something better, not knowing that I have a can't be beat rate. Thanks for all your help.

BTW, I went to National and got a quote of 223.20 with all taxes for my days. Is that good?

Unless someone is going at the same time you are, it is impossible to tell you what a good rate is. The only thing you can do is what we all do and that is explore every discount code there is with almost every rental car co. out there.
The rate goes from the time you pick it up until you drop it off. It goes in a 24 hour clock. so, if you pick a car up on Jan. 28 @ 9am and drop it off on Feb.4 @ 12: pm, you would be charged for 8 days.

Don't be sorry Gail! You are such a HUGE source of info on these boards. And I am glad you answered so quickly!! I did find on National with a variety of codes a rental for one week, Full size, with all taxes for 203.00. I think I will reserve it tomorrow, sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Cristen, thank you. Is this rate for 7 or 8 days? Does it include all taxes and fees? I would book it anyway and then keep my eye on the rates cause you can always modify or cancel and rebook if the rates drop. What code did you use? did you use the Vacation outlet coupon for 15.00?

Cristen would you please let me know what you find! I will be at the Poly with those exact same dates for our honeymoon - and national and everyone was quoting us close to $300 for a full size! Where did you get a code and is it something that I might be able to take advantage of - or is it something for certain people only.

We would like to have a car - but 300 dollars when we have the monorail seems steep when we want to splurge on other things - if we find something in the low 200's we would definitely do it!

I used a whole bunch of different combinations of codes, but what got me the cheapest rate was this.

On mary's site someone said that he used the Product Rate Code WEBK8, then on that web site, oh now I forget the name. rentalcodes, or something like that. Oh please someone help me with the name!! I used contract #5042947 for 20% off, then coupon code #10008198 for the 15.00 Gail was talking about. Do it went like this:

product rate: WEBK8
contract #5042947
coupon #10008198

The rate of the car is 174.68, then with the coupon it takes another 15.00 off. The surcharges and taxes are 48.52. I believe that comes to 208.20. Are those normal taxes, seems quite high!!

Sorry, the dates are for April 26th to May 3rd. I am not sure if they consider that 7 or 8 days. On the sheet it says 1 week @ 174.68, so I am assuming 7 days.
