Rate the Ride: Matterhorn Bobsleds

Matterhorn ... awesome, fabulous, great, thrilling, fast ... do I do the FL or TL side ...

We love the Matterhorn. It is a must do for every trip!

Not a fan. It is the only Mountain ride I don't really enjoy. My husband and younger son really like it, however.

I didn't care for the ride. It felt like a rattlely raggedy ride. Kind of like my old rusted out Chevy Vega but the Matterhorn was much faster of course!;)

It is a fun experience. Zipping in and out of the various openings in the sides of the mtn - and seeing DL from up above, at a quick pace, is lots of fun. It is a rather jerky ride, however, given the small space it has to work in, and the fact that it was the first iron "coaster". Some of the turns are pretty tight, adding to the not very smooth factor. Our family loves it though, despite that fact.

The first time I rode the Matterhorn Bobsleds I wasn't a fan; I had thought it was too jerky and didn't have big enough drops. But the second time I liked it more but I don't think I'd wait much longer than 20 minutes to ride it.

What's the FL or TL side? (Guess I don't know all of the lingo). I seem to recall that we enjoyed the track on the right more than the one on the left, if that means anything. :confused3

Well left and right can be different based on where you stand. Fantasyland and Tomorrowland (FL and TL) sides are more distinct. The FL side has the line going along the parade route side of the mountain by Alice. The TL side has the line going along the Nemo lagoon side of the mountain. I prefer the TL side, but both are extremely fun.

In August we decided to ride the TL side at night, but we wanted ice cream too. So my friend went to go get ice cream while me and my other friend stood in line. Well the line moved too fast and we had to wait and let a ton of guests go in front of us because my friend w/ the ice cream hadn't come back. We struck up a nice conversation with the CM right there while we enjoyed our ice cream bars. He was so nice that once we were done, he escorted us through the exit and right onto the ride! So nice. I highly recommend this ride at night.

One of my favorite rides, I just wish they would make less rough on your backside. One time I went my back was so sore afterwards...then again we rode it 8 times that day!

The Matterhorn is a steel coaster. You go up inside the mountain and once at the top, you pretty much coast down through a series of turns and dips ending in a splash at the bottom. You won't get all that wet though. There is only the one initial lift hill. None of the dips are all that severe. It's a good coaster for those that are too big for the kiddie ones but aren't ready for CA Screamin. It's also fun for everyone else. If you're looking for big thrills, this isn't it. It's a bit rough especially the side to side jerkiness. But all in all it's a very fun coaster and a do not miss. Each side is unique. This coaster does not use fast pass and lines build fairly quickly. The side across from Alice is closed during parades.

My daughter LOVES this ride. It is her all time favorite. On her first trip when she was a tiny 2 year/almost 3 year old, she wanted to try it. I was really surprised she met the height requirement. So, we went on it and she loved it. The second we got off, she wanted on again. We probably rode it four or five times in a row one morning.

That being said, I love it too. The first time I ever rode it, the ride stopped and we were escorted off. We had to climb down the mountain. YIKES! Clearly, that didn't deter me from going on it again. Oh, and I prefer the TL side. It seems more fun and the line is a little quicker for some reason....maybe it's not as long. Of course, that may be different with the Nemo subs open.

I like this ride b/c it seems fast to me & I enjoy the dip through the water at the end. But, we used to avoid it when my DH's back wasn't all that great. It was too jerky for his back for a while.

I was lucky enough to skip this ride all together on this past trip. :(

It's just too jerky for me. I usually am sitting with one of the kids in front of me and trying to hold on to them and brace myself against the bumps and all, it just really isn't much fun at all.

rode it for the first time on our last trip and loved it!, even my dd5 loved it! I actually laughed the whole way through 'cause it was so much fun. I hate roller coasters and was thrilled this didn't have any HUGE drop in it. My only complaint is it's too short of a ride. :rotfl:

Great ride! Love it! Way too short but that just gives us an excuse to ride it again later.

Every time I've been recently this ride has been closed for maintenance. Once it was closed in April, then in September.

We are going again in September. I've never ridden the ride and despite the mixed reviews, I feel like I'm missing out not trying it. Do you think it will be open?

We like it just fine. It's fun, but I agree that it can be a bit rough and jerky. I've had a few "ouch" moments because of the jerkiness, but hey, it's the Matterhorn. I expect a few bumps and bruises when conquering the Matterhorn and the yeti.:goodvibes

Probably NOT a good ride for someone with neck and/or back problems though.
