Rate the Ride: Big Thunder Mountain

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Some of our BEST family memories are from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
From our youngest becoming Brave Enough to ride for the first time, to having the Grandparents (who don't ride ANYTHING) ride w/ us, to riding it under the stars, etc! It's an easy enough coaster that I can actually turn around and take pictures of my family if they're in the seats behind me!!!

Oh, and I almost forgot....what a great achievement for a 6 year old to be able to ride with his hands UP the entire time!!!!

BTMR!!!! Tops for our Family:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

When we went in December 06 with some family friends from OK, their two kids and I (we're around the same age) would always call it the "Wildest ride in the Wilderness" like in the recording. So evertime we wanted to ride, we always were like "Let's go to the WILDERNESS!" (of course in very bad hick southern accents ;)) We were so obsessed with that ride that trip. I don't even know why. That trip we rode it 5 times. That was the most fun I have ever had on that ride. It's really fun during the day, but at night it's even WILDER!

We love this one! Even my MIL loves it, and she's not a "fast ride" kind of gal.

Love this ride, a disneyland classic, great theme and a great ride...especially at night!!!

This is one of my favorite rides. Rode too many times to count last trip. It sure did seem a LOT faster for whatever reason this time around, maybe it was all the times we sat up front this trip.

DD loves it. First "coaster" that she puts her hands up on, so cute!

A great ride for kids 5 to 75. Good during the day AND at night.

Anyone know if the goat is back? He wasn't there in DEC. (is it a goat?)

This is one that we can go on over and over and over again and never really get tired of it!!! LOVE IT!

One of the best rides to go at night. I prefer sitting in the middle or back because you feel the dips and turns more.

Does not dissapoint:thumbsup2

Love this ride! It is one of the few rides I remember from my childhood. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 10! :thumbsup2

We love it and rate it a 10. We like to do it in the evening, preferably while fantasmic or the fireworks is going on. There's nothing like going down the tracks and seeing fireworks in the sky. We like to request the back, you feel the whip better.

I absolutely love this ride. When I was younger I had had some bad experiences on rollercoasters so when my parents begged me to go on the ride with them I reluctantly agreed. At first I was a little scared but once I was strapped in and started to go I was relieved to find that it wasn't like one other rollercoaster I had previously been on...cough-cough-California Screamin-cough-cough. I fell in love with it and every time I step foot into Frontierland I won't leave without going on it.

It's definitely a "must do" on my list of DLR rides each time we visit. My dad went on it, Splash Mountain and Space Mountain with me and this was his favorite! He's not a roller coaster guy at all either.

I think it's great, but it can't top California Screamin' which IMO is the perfect balance of thrills without being too thrilling. Guess it depends on your thrill level (i.e. ToT makes me sick, but I'm ok with all other rides).

my ds7's favorite all time ride!!!! My whole family loves this ride, but I don't like the one at Disneyland. It is more "jerky" and bumpy than the one at WDW in my opinion, but I'm the only one in my family who thinks so. :confused3 :rotfl:

WDW is better in my opinion. Seemed longer and had more thrills. The whole first part of the cave and waterfalls doesn't seem as elaborate.

Don't get me wrong Pirates, all of fantasyland, haunted mansion, space, jungle are all better at the land. Splash is also still better at WDW though.

aha!!! thank you for saying that, I'm gonna have my dh read your response 'cause he thinks I'm nuts when I say the ride is different than the one at WDW! :lmao:

Big thunder is a total must do!!! :thumbsup2 I took someone's advice from this site and rode it at night time. Thats my favorite time to ride it, especially when the fireworks are going off above you. Its just so magical.

Big Thunder just seems shorter and not as elaborate as the one in WDW. Does anyone else agree or disagree?
