Ratatouille?

Just back from the theater. I'll have to say that this is my least favorite Pixar movie (of the ones I've seen). I thought parts of it were funny, but for the most part I couldn't really get into it. Even DD, who is usually very involved in movies, leaned over & laid down a couple times.

I'm not going to get to see it until next week on girls night for DD's 19th birthday. Both of her siblings will be out of town and DH isn't fond of the movie theater so I'm looking forward to the two of us enjoying it together. I'm glad to read your opinions of the movie.

I guess i'll be the one nay-sayer in the group. I DID think the animation was outstanding! I thought it was S-L-O-W going for the most part. There were some laugh out loud moments, for sure. BUT Cars was so much better than this movie!

My kids (3 &6) liked it overall, but it's way too long for them to sit because it didn't hold their interest throughout. I'm glad I saw it, but I won't be buying the DVD. Sorry.

I agree! I thought this was way below Disney/Pixar standards. The story wasn't engaging or interesting. All the bug eyed people bothered me too. Pixar can do animals and inanimate objects, but the people looked goofy -like their eyes were about to pop out of their heads when they opened their eyes really wide.

I wasn't even glad I saw it - I want a refund!

I have to add that I went into this movie not wanting to enjoy it in the least, just humoring the kids on summer vacation. We all enjoyed it very, very much. We were all also surprised that it was 2 hours! Didn't feel that long to us! Of course, the POTC movies don't feel long to us, either, but that could just be because of the splendid eye candy in those films . . .

All I know is that when TIVO had a 12 minute preview of it or whatever, my almost 2 year old sat there and kept hitting the play button on the TIVO remote to watch it- over and over and over.

So we haven't seen it yet, but hopefully soon!

We all absolutely LOVED it. I used to work in the restaurant business and was on the floor half the time laughing. I swear every chef I ever worked under was portrayed in that film.

I can't wait until tomorrow, DH and I are going to Pirates while our DD is out with her grandparents, it's a Disney movie weekend!

We are taking the kids to see it tomorrow-mainly because me and DD want to see it. Can't wait. I know there is another thread with very unhappy folks that didn't care for the movie, but I think if I am understanding the issues, they were upset over some things they found objectionable for their very young kids. Mine are older, so I don't think I'll have the same problems. The promos look very cute and the reviews sound great. More often than not, we love all the Disney movies (although even Disney isn't immune to the occasional stinker).

You're not the only one.

My DS9 said he liked it but without much feeling so I think he did not. I thought it was way too long and way too short on the funny.

I guess I am in the Minority. I really did not enjoy the movie. I thought it was too long. I brought my DS6 who thought it was "weird" but said the movie was just OK and DS2...it could not hold his attention at all.
I didn't think it held up to all the hype.

We all LOVED IT! (Dh, me and dd (5) ) Was very cute! I liked the little narration at the end by the critic and the way this movie reverted to alot of the classic movies in terms of people and animals. Also, did not involve any current events, it just took you away from the world for a while and into the world of Linguine (sp) and Remi. We really enjoyed it. =) Love Pixar.

And thought that movie short at the beggining was pretty cute too! And funny.

We went yesterday afternoon and thought that it was really very cute. No problems with it for us. Glad to see it topped the box office.

Now was it a Bad Movie? No

Was it exciting, Thrilling, Sweet, Anything that would hold my attention. No.

There were no High Points in the movie, no points that made me Aawwee.

We saw it yesterday (twin dd's 8 and 3). We all thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't find it objectionable at all. To each their owm.

We saw Ratatouille last night at the drive in. Whether you will like it depends on what you like in a movie. If you or your kids prefer non-stop action, ADHD-inducing special effects, or jokey cultural references, then this is not the movie for you. If you or your kids prefer a strong story, memorable characters, interesting camera work, a real world setting made magical, and a a dash of that old-time Disney feature feeling, your family will probably like this movie. I wouldn't drag a 3 year old to it, but some 4 year olds and most older kids will find things in the movie to enjoy.

My six year old son enjoyed it in his own way. My wife and I knew the movie would appeal to us -- we've been to Paris and enjoy French cooking. My son -- a notoriously picky eater -- said the movie made him "hungry" and that he now wanted to try a strawberry and some cheese together (like Remy does in the movie). We will see it again, and the DVD will be a definite buy. IMHO, it's an instant classic, on the level with older Disney films that relied on strong stories and vividly drawn characters (such as Lady and the Tramp and Pinocchio).

Saw it opening day with my kids 8, 5 and daughter who turned 4 in April and they all LOVED it. I would highly recomend I also thought it was a great movie as did my husband and I would see it again in a heart beat, cant wait for it to come out on DVD

We took DS2 to see it on Saturday morning. We all enjoyed it, but agreed that Cars was better.

DS loves his Disney/Pixar movies and was glued to the screen for then entire movie, even the short in the beginning. I will definitely make it part of my . . .err . . . DS's movie collection when it is released on DVD.

We (Me, DH, and 3 yo DD) saw it yesterday. I'm not sure how to explain our opinions on it yet. The animation is BEAUTIFUL!! The people at Pixar are the most talented animation staff out there IMO. Our DD loved Remy, and seemed generally smittened by the movie. DH and I liked it, but feel that Ratatouille, as well as Bird's other movie The Incredibles, are in a way very different from the other Pixar classics like Nemo, Cars, Toy Story, Bugs, and Monsters. Bird's movies tend to focus on developing the whole story idea and focus on character development, whereas the other Pixar's are notoriously known for their sweet characters who are voiced by well-known actors/comedians full of unforgettable taglines and one-liners. Both formulas are effective, but are just different. If you are going to Ratatouille expecting to see the slapstick one-liners and rapid humorous action of films like Toy Story or Nemo, you may be disappointed. I think if you just sit back and take in the beauty of the animation and the sweetness of Remy, you will enjoy this movie in the long run. You won't know until you see it!!

The whole family saw this on Saturday and we all loved it! I was a little leery of seeing a movie about rats, but it was so entertaining. People in the theatre were laughing out loud like crazy. I thought one guy might pee his pants! They had a "technical difficulty" and the screen blacked out for a minute or two. I thought people were going to throw things!

Didn't even realize it was that long. I thought it was such a visual delight and the story was so cute from beginning to end. Can't wait for the DVD!

I took my kids to see it today. We all liked it alot! Was it our favorite Disney movie? My DS6 said it was for him. My DS10 said it wasn't his favorite, but he liked it. I liked it too, but liked Bugs Life and Finding Nemo better. Also, IMHO, it was better than Monsters, Inc and the Incredibles. I would still highly recommend it though as it does keep your attention. It has a great story line, I thought. Did anyones theatre show the little alien skit at the beginning right before the movie??? I thought that was so CUTE!!! Pixar does a great job with the animation because it was very real looking! Also, thought I caught some hidden mickeys in the movie too? Did anyone else see any??
