Ratatouille?

We saw this last night and loved it! Can't wait to own it! :thumbsup2

I took DS 13 yesterday and he was laughing so hard he about fell out of his seat a couple times. I loved it too, but I rarely watch movies so I'm easliy entertained.

We saw Ratatouille last night at the drive in. Whether you will like it depends on what you like in a movie. If you or your kids prefer non-stop action, ADHD-inducing special effects, or jokey cultural references, then this is not the movie for you. If you or your kids prefer a strong story, memorable characters, interesting camera work, a real world setting made magical, and a a dash of that old-time Disney feature feeling, your family will probably like this movie. I wouldn't drag a 3 year old to it, but some 4 year olds and most older kids will find things in the movie to enjoy.

My six year old son enjoyed it in his own way. My wife and I knew the movie would appeal to us -- we've been to Paris and enjoy French cooking. My son -- a notoriously picky eater -- said the movie made him "hungry" and that he now wanted to try a strawberry and some cheese together (like Remy does in the movie). We will see it again, and the DVD will be a definite buy. IMHO, it's an instant classic, on the level with older Disney films that relied on strong stories and vividly drawn characters (such as Lady and the Tramp and Pinocchio).

This is a lovely review and true in every way. Ratatouille is indeed a classic. A work of art that will stand the test of time.

This is sooooo funny! After the movie, My 3.5 year old son, also a notoriously picky eater went to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch with my husband and proceeded to eat 2 full orders of pasta from the kids menu and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. This from a kid that normally claims to be "done" after about 3 noodles.
He also wants me to buy strawberries on the way home (which he never eats) because Remy ate them with cheese so he wants to try it.

Who would have thought that a rat would inspire him!!

He did in fact try the strawberries and cheese last night, and now seems to enjoy strawberries (a major accomplishment, since he tends to reject or gag on any fruit or vegetable in a non-pureed form). He now seems more open to trying other foods as well -- we'll see how long that lasts.:rotfl:

On enjoying strawberries -- he thought the cheese combination was nice, but decided that whipped cream went better with the berries. Because they taste more like candy that way.

Thanks to all for your reviews. We are planning to take dd, age 3.9, to see this tomorrow. It will be her first time at the movies, so we are very excited. She loves all animals (even rats and yikes snakes) so I think it will be a hit. Hope she can just sit still long enough.
