Rat Terrier anyone?--Picked out our puppy today!!--Updated with picture

I would have been ok with a dog that was a little bigger but this works out because DS10 hates to have big dogs jump on him (one of the behaviors we will correct if it starts with the dog) so this will be ok. He isn't a huge fan of dogs but is ok with them once he has been around them for a while so having our own will be good for him.

I wish they would call me back so I can go peek at the puppies!

I suppose I should get some ideas for names, too. It is a girl dog and that is all I know. I was thinking something golf related. Dh's uncle had a dog named Divot and I always thought that was cute. I am sure the kids will have ideas but I don't want it named Fluffy or Spot or anything too common.

:goodvibes This made me thing of the dogs we had in my childhood. My younger brother and sisters named them all Charley or Charley, Jr. After the 4th one my mom put her foot down--No more Charleys! So they named the next on Thurber :confused3

Mother to a half rat here. She is the sweetest, most affectionate little dog we've ever shared our home with. I've had a terrier (awesome little dogs!) of one kind or another shadowing me from the time I was a teenager and Minnie Mouse is by far the most loving little baby I've ever known. She plays hard, sleeps hard, is afraid of NOTHING (which can be a little scary at times), loves to snuggle, is incredibly alert, intelligent, curious, bounces and leaps and pings off the walls all day but once the sun sets, she's down for the count. Oh, and she seems to think I'm the best thing around... awww shucks.

Its sounds like your home is going to be perfect!! I'm picking up my pup(a little Dobie-boy!) Jan 13th,I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

When I was very little my grandma had a toy rat terrier names Sooner. Years later she had a terrier mix named (you guessed it), Later. 10 or so years later she had Never. No kidding, my grandma H was a hoot!

Hi,

Good luck with your new puppy! Post a picture when the time comes. Maybe you need to pick up a puppy sweater for him to deal with our lovely temps!

I wasn't even paying attention that you are in Minnesota, duh! You will need a sweater and a coat, poor Izzy get's so cold. Her hair is so short and in some places she hardly has any. Cold weather gear is a must LOL.

Here is my Izzy... (hopefully this works)

What a cutie! I think Dash may have a crush on Izzy. They look a lot alike, right down to the white body and black spot on the back, but Dash has a darker face. He also loves to sleep/lay on the back of the couch like that.

That was my one request, that we have a Disney name... I didn't want the usual either. Good luck with your new little one, post pics when you get them.

Too cute! Love Dash's costume! Which came first, the costume or the name? I am always amused that I have a dog that I actually put clothes on!

Oh, I didn't think about Ping. That is cute too. I was thinking Divot would be cute, too since she is black. DD might want Annika, she is a huge Annika fan. Calloway is cute too, we could call her Cal. NXT Tour is probably out, though (that is the golf ball I use).

Our dog is named Rookie. Works for both the golf and hockey world, both of which we are heavily immersed.

This isn't her but she looks a lot like this dog. Someone else suggested she might be more manchester terrier, mom and dad look more like Rat Terriers, mom is probably purebred, dad might be a bit of a mix. Her nose isn't quite as big so I don't know if it will get as big as a "real" manchester? Who knows?

I just looked up some info on the Manchester and it says they don't shed! Hopefully she will have that trait, too!

I was hoping that about little Izzy too, but alas, she sheds a lot. But it's a lot less hair than my golden used to drop.

That puppy is adorable! Can't wait to see yours. Does yours have a tail like that one? Izzy does, I know they aren't supposed to, but I love her little tail.

Yes, she has a tail like that. We won't do anything with the tail.
