Rapists Targeting Drunk Women...not rape?

I don't see this as a drinking / not drinking issue. The headline of the article indicates that men are TARGETING women who have been drinking. That makes it seem that their intent is to rape and are looking for women who have had too much to drink to make it easier.

If two adult are out at a bar, both are having a few drinks and then end up back at someone's house, to me that is a completely different scenario.

It is, unfortunately laws that protect people in the first scenario can have unintended consequences on the second.

I hate to say this but women (men too) have to take responsibility for their actions. If you go out, have a couple drinks (or not) and "hook-up" with a random guy you don't get to later say it was rape. That just makes it harder for the woman who were actually raped. Rape does not mean I had sex with someone I regret. It means I said NO/STOP and the other person didn't. We all have to live with the consequences of our actions.

Maybe not for some drunk people.
My tendencies when I’m impaired to some degree involve being more outgoing, dancing and acting silly with my friends, eating too much junk food, and falling asleep. If my proclivities were to commit acts of violence against other human beings, I would be seeking therapy and I sure as hell wouldn’t be putting any mind altering substances into my body.

Do you think that happens often? I really doubt it. Just b/c someone started the night that way doesn’t mean it wasn’t rape.

My husband's company provides security for fraternity parties. The whole consent thing is a big issue....and the reason why NO ONE is allowed in the residential area of the frat houses during parties.

Try getting a drunken frat boy to understand that not allowing him and his equally intoxicated female friend to go to his room is to protect BOTH of them. They understand the concept of consent just fine when sober but throw in a few beers = bad decisions for both sexes.

It's too bad that not every situation has a bunch of sober security guards watching out.

Of course it doesn’t happen often.

That’s good that you can handle being drunk, many cannot. It’s best, and easy to not get drunk. Nothing good comes from it. Wouldn’t you agree?

Just don't drink yourself into a coma. Problem solved.
I'm not so sure that solves anything. Other than someone not being in an alcohol induced coma.

A woman (or man) go out either alone or with friends. Has a few drinks. A predator sees that she has been drinking and sees her as an easy target. The individual doesn't have to be "black out drunk" to be a target.
