"RapidFill" RFID mugs getting rolled out...

Is this for the soda machines only or the coffee and tea as well. I can't drink any of the sodas at Disney due to allergy so only drink iced tea or coffee which I now plan to get at Starbucks since I can get my Soy Latte with Splenda

So, are they going to have a full-time CM at each station to help with issues? Of all the times we have stayed onsite, I think each time at least one of the soda canisters has been empty/not functioning and I've ended up with a mug of icky water. There had better be a CM there to override my wait time so I can refill my mug. And it better take less than 5 minutes.

I'm thinking this system is not going to work out, there will be too many complaints, and it will disappear within a year or two.

When they did the testing at ASSp, it was only for the soda machines. Since coffee and tea are in separate dispensers from the soda (and in particular, are in machines that don't have the tray at the bottom, which is what the cup has to come in contact with to activate the system), I'm thinking that coffee and tea are not going to be included.

The CMs will override the machine if it's not working properly, not because people can't wait 5 minutes for a refill. The only people I can see complaining are the ones who try to use the machines without buying the mugs.

No, I will complain if it takes extra time to get my paid-for mug filled with soda. Why should I have to go track down a CM, or wait 5 minutes, because a machine isn't working properly? In the past, I would have just dumped the icky stuff in the sink and gone to the other soda dispenser to get my drink. That takes about 1 minute, not 5.

I also see the cheap RFID stickers on the disposable cups not working efficiently. In order to keep costs down they are going to have to go for the lowest price/quality tags, and we all know how reliable the cheap stuff is...

I have read that the wait time has been set to 2 minutes. It would appear that Disney agrees that 5 is too much and 2 is enough.

It is also patently false to claim the only people complaining are those who don't have legitimate mugs. I get them with the dining plan and I don't want to wait 5 minutes during the 1 or 2 times I actually use the mug per day. Disney, so far, appears to agree.

This was an older thread that had not been updated since they started activating the dispensers. In the original test, the lockout time was 5 minutes, which I believe everyone agreed was too long, especially for the size of the mugs.

It was only after they started activating the machines at the All Stars a couple of weeks ago that it was found that they reduced the time to 2 minutes - it actually seems to vary a bit, as much as 2:30 was noted, but it's not known what causes it to go up.

I revived it because I had been arguing for something more like 2 minutes than 5, and seemed like the vast majority of those participating thought 5 minutes was a good waiting period. I'm glad Disney has seen fit to not arbitrarily set it at a full 5 minutes.

I would suppose that the increase in time limit is related to how soon you refill after 2 minutes. This shows they might be using some of the extra rate-throttling features possible with the system. That is exactly what I had hoped they would choose to do. I will give it a test when I am down there next and see how it works out.
