Just saw this article today which Randy Jackson did an interview for TV Guide where he says he is bored with this seasons final few contestants... He also says that "These kids are singing terribly.."

I may be confused here but aren't they constantly saying on the show this season that this group of contestants was better than the group from last year?

Check it out...

IS NEW 'IDOL' CAST BORING?
Mon May 12, 5:10 AM ET Add Entertainment - PageSix Gossip/Celeb to My Yahoo!

AS "American Idol" heads into its last two weeks, judge Randy Johnson says he's "bored" by the performances of the final few contestants.

"These kids are singing terribly," Jackson tells TV Guide.

Jackson realizes that on the air in recent weeks, he has appeared irritated and out of character.

And he recognizes he's becoming the show's new Simon Cowell - "Idol's" blunt and bossy judge. "In the last couple of weeks, people have been telling me: 'Dude, you've gotten so mean,' "

"No, I'm just bored," he says

And why bored?

"These kids are singing terribly," Jackson says.

Jackson does not explain what he means - or if any contestant in particular seems to be bothering him.

In the same article, Cowell also said there was something amiss about the final weeks of this competition compared to the first show.

"I miss the showmanship of Justin [Guarini] and Tamyra [Gray]," Simon says. "I think some of these contestants have tried too hard to play it safe."

The series is down to just three singers now - Ruben Studdard, the favorite; Clay Aiken, the likable North Carolinian; and Limberly Lovke, the dark horse contender.

There's an opinion I'm worried about.......

Didn't Randy Jackson write the world's shortest book? Um....what was the title......oh yeah....

How to Sustain a Career in Music :p

Well, he declared Ruben the winner weeks ago (before he appeared in the bottom two.) Is he just bored that it's not over and his pick crowned? Doesn't make sense. I think these contestants are stronger than last year.

Why does it say "Randy Johnson" in the article when his name is Randy Jackson?

And I'm bored with the final 3 as well.

I saw him on the news this evening and he said that he was bored with all the bad singing. Meaning that those that made the top ten should all sing well. And I thought that he alluded to the fact that the millions of Americans watching were not using talent only as their reason for voting.

It's odd that Ruben is called the favorite in that article too. Wasn't he in the bottom two just a few weeks ago? He may be the favorite now but how would the writer know that? Weird.

Did you see at the end of the article that Simon thinks Clay should be the winner? I found that interesting. . .

Frankly, I think the judges have done their best to steer this year's AI in the direction they want to see it go. It seems pretty obvious that Randy and Paula think the AI should be Ruben. I could be wrong, but they seem to fawn over everything he does. Even on Oprah yesterday, she was vocal about her choice, Ruben.

That tune should change based on last night's performances. Ruben could not possibly do a tour. By the 3rd song last night, he was wiped.

I hope Kimberly wins....I think she has come a long way and her voice is just so mellow.. I do like Ruben but sometimes his voice sounds scratchy to me.. and I am also fond of Clay but lately his whole sweet and wholesome look with the winking is getting to me.. I know them are fighting words for the Clay fans.. but what can I say...

I am not sure about the article because is this not the same Randy that gives them a standing ovation if they do well.... how can he be bored??? I am suspicious of the article after all they did not even get Kimberly's name right........

I watched last night and came away with, well, they're good but they sure aren't Justin and kelly material. It just goes to show you how difficult it is to find spectacular voices along with the personality to go with them. Clay forgot words in his first song, but he did cover up well. He seemed to go flat a couple of times on his second song. Ruben was sweating so profusely by the third song I thought he was going to drop over. His voice went weak at that time too. Kimberly seems stiff when she sings but I think she should win. If she truly relaxed I bet we'd see a superstar diva come out.

I think Clay or Kimberly will be out tonight. I hope it's Clay.

I must say last week I did dub it now the search for America's "most boring" Idol. I can't deny that these three are talented and can sing, but really they don't do anything for me.

Something is odd. I heard on a radio interview yesterday that Simon thinks Clay will win but he thinks Ruben should! Who knows what article/interview to believe!:p

Simon was on the Tonight Show the night before last & said that Clay is his favorite, but that he thinks Rueben will win.

I was trying to remember but in the initial tryouts didn't Simon NOT want Clay to go on to Hollywood based on how dorky he looked? Maybe I'm remembering wrong but if that's right then Clay has been simply amazing to have come this far. I hope he wins.

Thinking more of what Randy supposedly said (I am beginning to question the validity of the article too) I can kind of agree with what Randy is trying to say. This is kind of along the lines of what Miss Jasmine said as well. These three are talented, that is for sure. The whole group of 10 on average were substantially better singers than the first group. However there were a few exceptionally shining stars in the first group that this group is lacking. Tamyra and Justin and Kelly just had this awesome sense of showmanship and star quality to them. This latest group just isn't as (I hate to say this) exciting. I think Kimberley has the most potential to be star-like and she is the one I hope wins. She has the ability to sing a variety of songs and do them well. I guess we will find out tonight who America thinks the final two should be..

I got bored with American Idol as soon as I discovered Nashville Star. Every one of the contestants on Nashville Star could sing better than any of the people on American Idol, IMHO. Clay's the only one even close. I'm sorry Nashville Star is over, though I loved the outcome of that one. I lost interest in American Idol very quickly. :(

My husband, who hasn't kept up with American Idol, actually watched it with me last night. He admits that Clay has a great voice but says that he thinks Clay is out tonight.

I've heard somewhere on some tv interview (maybe last night) that last year the judges seemed to run the show but this year they have stepped back and someone else seem to be running it.

Last year's contestants maybe weren't as talented but they had more pizazz then this years. If Vanessa hadn't been prematurely voted out, I think that this year's show would have been better. Rueben, Clay and Kimberly haven't really had all that much competition. I figured that they would end up in the top 3 unless they got less votes because someone else got more votes because of they fan base, not their singing ability.
