I never knew what "ala mode" meant. I would see it randomly and think "what does that even mean anyway?". Looking at Disney menus and saw one that said "seasonal cobbler $5.49; ala mode $7.49". I wondered why having it ala mode made it more expensive, so I used Google. Couldn't be bothered to turn instant off (even though it's useless) so I typed in define:ala mode. Google Instant didn't bring up anything and actually said underneath "press enter to search". I thought eliminating that action was what Instant was about! Anyway. I pressed enter, and there were no results. I took out the "define:" part and when to the first result. Turns out that foodwise, "ala mode" means "with ice cream"... Why call it ala mode then? Certainly "with ice cream" is far easier to understand. Also, why is it almost $2 more expensive with ice cream? If I had the dining plan, would I be able to add ice cream because $7.19 is close to the same price as a main meal at a counter service. Hmm... Anyway, "ala mode" is a useless phrase in my opinion.
