Only Southerners make friends while
standing in lines. We don't do "queues,"
we do "lines"; and when we're "in line,"
we talk to everybody!

I had no idea what a "queue" was until I went on VMK.
Yeah... everybody knows everybody down here, and if you don't you're going to meet them while standing in line- I promise you that.

Yesterday, at the mall, me and my brothers were sitting on a bench outside a store while my mom was paying, and a lady is sitting on the bench next to ours. This old man comes and sits down right next to her. And says "Nice to meet you, I'm Bill" and the lady's like "Jenna" and the old mans like "You from round here?" and she's like "No, I'm from Pennsylvania. My daughter and I come down here to go early Christmas shopping every year. We shopped all day yesterday and we're shopping all day today and tomorrow also. How about you? Are you from here?" and the old man goes "Yeah, a lil bit! I was born 'round here, then I moved over to Kannapolis." and they're just talking about random stuff. Some people are just too friendly xD

Put 100 Southerners in a room and half
of them will discover they're related,
even if only by marriage.

Southerners never refer to one person
as "ya'll."

Never. That's just misusing the word. And "y'all" is a "holy word"

Understand that in most British accents don't roll your '"R'"'s: (except those from the West Country, Liverpool, Northumbria, Northern Ireland, and parts of Scotland), but not all "British" accents are the same, ie: a Scottish accent varies greatly from an English accent.

Southerners know grits come from corn
and how to eat them.

Every Southerner knows tomatoes with
eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee are
perfectly wonderful; that red eye gravy
is also a breakfast food; and that fried
green tomatoes are not a breakfast
food.

1. I find grits just disgusting. People down here live on grits like the Chinese live on rice. Except my family, we all hate grits...

2. Tomatoes, eggs, bacon, grits, and coffee? Ugh, no. I don't like tomatoes, nor grits, nor coffee. Eggs and bacon though, yummy

..you don't roll your r's? I LOVE ROLLING MY R's! IT'S MY FAVORITE PART OF LEARNING ITALIAN. And I'm good at rolling my R's :D Loads of people can't roll their r's and I'm like "it's not that difficult!"

When you hear someone say, "Well, I
caught myself lookin'," you know you
are in the presence of a genuine
Southerner!

Essex, is usually associated with Estuary English, mainly in urban areas receiving an influx of East London migrants. The non-urban Essex accent, generally found in the north of the county, is more closely related to those of East Anglia. Residents of places within Essex such as Basildon, Dagenham, Grays and Romford are more likely to have an accent similar to the traditional 'Cockney' accent, due to the proximity to East London and East End migration to these areas since WWII.
