Random thoughts from recent trip

WHich ride is that??? I really enjoyed this thread will be having some random thoughts of my own after our first trip to DL in 2007!!!! :cool1:

Mr. Toads Wild Ride

Frontierland turns into a virtual lake when it rains, as does the open parking lot--the cast members named it Lake Disney.

The park becomes a ghost town during a downpour. Grab a parka, put a baseball hat on to cover that rag-mop head of hair, and walk onto nearly every ride without waiting.

Adult parkas fit nicely over strollers to keep babies and backpacks dry.

The bridges at the entrance of Pirates makes a great hiding place from a cloud-burst, and so does the ride itself!

Some people literally lose their minds in the park when it rains. I've seen adults shove small children out of the way in the "Pieces of Eight" giftshop to keep from getting wet. Imagine if there were a REAL crisis....

My favorite bathrooms are the ones in the back of New Orleans Square by the train station and the ones behind TMRR.

The margaritas in DCA are very tasty!

We use the train as transportation, its much more fun to get from one side of the park to the other (especially during a parade), and much easier on your feet. We also ride it as our last ride around the park every night before we leave- lets us see tidbits from every land and reminds us why we love the park so much. princess:

The only bathroom I've ever waited in line is the one by cruelas trailer in DCA.

Mr. Toads is the only ride my 8 year doesn't like- she considers it the scariest ride in either park.

The best kids meal is the ravioli at Red Rockets in Tomorrowland- ask for the white sauce!

The best place to people watch is the porch on main street. Did you know that used to be a bra shop? The porch is where the husbands waited for their wives to be fitted for a new bra.

The popcorn buckets work great for popcorn at home as well- one microwave bag will fill two buckets. We use them at home when we watch movies.

The best free water in the park is at the first aid station. They change the filter weekly- its cold and fresh- and they provide little cups. Fill your water bottle there.

Sensored toilets...still laughtng about that. :rotfl2:

WDW has Cinderella's Castle, DL has the Matterhorn.. still remember watching and waiting to see it as a little girl and then saying, " I see it, I see it, I see it!" LOL that was along time ago!! :rolleyes1

Yes there are lots of churros at DL. Had a hard time finding them at WDW.

Wish there were still different little shops on Main Street. I'll have to ask my Mom about the bra shop. Guess I'm not old enough to remember that. :cheer2:

What do you mean about the twinkle lights in the trees. Are they gone????

Got my leg stuck between the seats on the Skyway ride as a little girl and they had to shut the whole thing down. I was quite upset.

Wish they would put Mickey's Philharmonic at DL or DCA!!! While I'm at it, Epcot would be nice too!! LOL! :cool1:

Snowing and carols at DL during Christmas.

:tinker:

I so totally agree with this! I wish they would get rid of "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" and put Mickey's PhilharMagic right there! :thumbsup2

Oh - another random thought...

...I think EE is great and all, but I wish the Disneyland parks also offered "Extra Magic Hour" like they do at WDW, for those of us who like to sleep in a little when we're on vacation. :thumbsup2

The best ride to ride after drinking a Grande Margarita is Mullholland Madness!
I would have never thought of that! Its a good idea. I forget that DCA serves alcohol. Just what DH would want to put up with :sad2: . Im already giddy at DL,like I need to add that. :hyper:

Another of my favorites was the Great Moments with Lincoln. I think this was one of the most under-rated attractions! I just hope Disneyland brings it back! :confused3

Yes!! It was quite exciting at the time! No one had seen anything like it! It was a major attraction!!

Maybe a little liquid courage would help me finally go on ToT :teeth:

:rotfl: I need no encouragement liquid or otherwise to get on TOT...its my absolute favorite ride ever...I have my own suite in that hotel hahaha

I decided we need another round of randomness !

The mutant ducks seen from the fantasyland boats are very concerning to me....

At DLR my kids loved the DL Railroad, my son thought it was sooo cool that DL had dinosaurs! :thumbsup2 I've never been on the WDW railroad do IDK if it's similar or comparable. :confused3

At DCA, the scariest ride, by far (for DH & I) was the Sun Wheel! (the rocking ones) We were both freaked out the WHOLE ride while the kids LOVED every minute! I kept thinking....if this thing breaks we fall into the water below, and we're in CAGES!! :sad2: So we ride the stationary ones now :lmao:

We also like that DL is smaller and everythings pretty close together compared to MK.

The best DCA restroom was the one closest to Grizzly River Run, the sinks had warm water which was helpful in getting thawed out after being drenched and close to frozen on GRR in the cooler months. (we're from Hawaii and so we're not use to the cold MAY nights hehe  )

And I agree, Pirates and HM are wayyy better at DLR then at WDW! :thumbsup2

Club Libby Lu @ DTD was GREAT my dd just LOVED it there, getting dolled up. :cutie: (Since DLR doesn't have a Bippity Boppity Boutique yet.)

I wish they'd lower the multi-day pass prices.

My random thoughts

The turkey legs are highly overrated, they taste like ham.
Didn't care for Paradise Pier but can't wait to stay at the Grand Californian. I did like the private entrance at GC into CA.
I love the Paradise Pier area. I loved the broccoli soup in a bowl. Brought home several loafs of the bread.
Didn't really care for tortillas before but loved the warm one after the tour at CA.
Think POTC is much better at DL.
Love the Indiana Jones ride. Wish they would do something like that at WDW.
Loved the ceremony at the front of the park where they replay Walt's words and they release the doves. Wish that could stay.

Turkey Legs...yep, they taste like ham to me too. I was so looking forward to them when we went to WDW because I had heard so much about them, but I ended up only taking a couple of bites and threw the rest away. I wanted turkey...not ham.

Random thoughts....I love the sounds of Disneyland. The clop-clop & ding-ding of the horse-drawn trolley on Main Street, the distant blast of the Mark Twain, the "all aboard" of the conductor and the narrator on the train, the songs in the Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Splash Mountain. The soft Christmas music and carolers on Main Street during the Christmas season...sigh. :santa:

I Can't wait for November to get here!

I have a pact with my family to scatter my ashes throughout the planters at DL when i die. It's a secret though.

I love the vegetable stew in a bread bowl from River Belle Terrace.

I can't leave the park without a skewer from Bengal BBQ and a frosty lemonade.

I love the free tortilla at CaliAdv. and the video they play at the beginning. "Maseca!"

I still jump at the "pop-up" ghoul heads in Haunted Mansion.

Matterhorn needs a fast pass option, badly.

I usually wear flip flops to Disney, call me crazy if you like :P, but it's awesome riding Orange Stinger with no shoes on. :lmao:

I could ride California Screamin' over and over again.

The carmel apples from the Pooh candy shop are delicious after a night in the freezer. YumYum.

Ok, I really wanna go now, lol.

What kind of flight did you take? Did you do a direct flight from Boi to Lax or did you have to do a transfer someplace? Did you end up flying on that small plane? We leave soon, on a direct flight and Im dreading the plane!!!!
Q400, or DH4... anyway, it has two seats on each side of isle... and feels rickity to me! Our direct flight is on that plane. I dont drink, but may have to start. :sad2:

Tell me what you took out of BOI please!!! We need direct due to some ear issues. I'm whining.

If it is direct it must be Alaska/Horizon ? I actually love that flight, but we usually do Delta and have to route via SLC. From BOI to SLC is always on the "2" seater configuration.....I love it cause we get two aisles seats !
