Random thought........parking lot "forest" at MK

Just curious why they left the small "forest" inside the MK parking lot. Is it just happenstance or is there a reason behind it?

There are some natural springs and a waterway. It is much less expensive to have that area natural than it would have been to try and pave it over. And it would develop sinkholes and much damage if they had filled it in and paved over it.
