I have been researching hotels non-stop for days it seems! My parents are going with us, so that kind of ups the anty for me on finding the "perfect hotel" (and time crowd wise) or I will continually hear about it (or NOT hear about it and just get the attitude.) We are driving to get to DLR and will have cars. We need a decent price, prefer free breakfast, must have a fridge and probably a microwave. We are typically on-site at WDW so this searching off-site hotels is blowing my mind!!!! We can't afford onsite, though.

Sounds like the Candy Cane might work for you. It's a favorite of mine - free parking, free continental breakfast (pastries, cereal, that sort of thing), clean rooms, nice people, mini fridge and microwave. They have a shuttle that runs every half hour, I think, but I've never used it. Otherwise, it's a short walk past DCA to the main entrance.

We were looking at maybe peacock suites. It is only $115 a night (after adding in the parking fee.) I know we will still have to pay for parking at the park, though. I will look at the Candy Cane. I liked HoJo, buT it was looking like almost $180

I have made a note of rope drop. We are NOT rope drop people at WDW. We prefer to close the park down and let the kids sleep in the next morning. Unfortunately DLR does not have evening Extended hours! (Yup, we were those people with a wide awake 3 and 5 yr old at 1am at the magic kingdom!) Of course, we have to do fast pass runs so mornings are important at DLR!
