Random Questions - Instagram Edition

1) Why do all the reels have unnecessary, loud background music to distract you from the words they expect you to read?

2) Where is the pause button? I seem to hit it sometimes by mistake, but can never actually find it on purpose.

3) Why am I all of a sudden getting video after video of people making "lunchables"? Did I accidentally think out loud that I wanted cheese and crackers? Did the company that makes the plastic containers suddenly decide to pay everyone I follow to advertise for them? What gives, algorithm?

On Instagram you have to press and hold to pause. Kind of annoying, I prefer TikTok where you just have to tap.

I don't use Instagram so I can't comment on the specific ways it operates. However, if I am surfing the net reading various articles, I always have my sound on mute. Only time I unmute is when listening to something like a video. Haven't found where the random noises associated with most websites are necessary when simply reading an article.

The lunchables part is likely because you sat and watched one or two for long enough to make the algorithms think you like that kind of stuff. I went through a recent phase where I was watching a lot of prom dress reels and I'm still getting a lot with dresses. If I start watching more Disney stuff, it learns and gives me more of that. Same with cake and cookie decorating...as well as some of my favorite pet ones, like Jimmy and Clarence. DD17 as well as a coworker like to share reels with me which also mess with what I get.

As for the music, after you start watching reels for a while, you notice that they seem kind of empty and missing something if it doesn't have some kind of music or background filler.

I usually just tap on the screen to pause.
