Hi everyone!
My son is a picky eater and usually has teriyaki sauce or parmesan cheese (just the powdery kind, not fresh grated) with his meals. Are these available in the MDRs?

I am not looking for help or suggestions on my son's eating habits, please, just wondering about the availability of these items:)

Thanks!!!

I imagine the kitchens have teriyaki sauce for their recipes. They definitely have parm to offer with pasta dishes. Have a heart-to-heart talk with your server at your first dinner. If they can accommodate it will probably be on the table every night thereafter!

Now, the buffets...that's another matter.

I too have a picky eater. Yes to the parmesan but the teriyaki may be different than at home. You can also ask for things that are not on the menu like baked potato, plain noodles, buttered noodles ect.... and I always have to tell them NO PEAS on my daughters plate(and she is 13 and orders off kid menu). The plates are divided so that helps too with selective eaters. We had tablemates who also ordered like grilled cheese and toast for there child and you can also get white bread rolls, just ask.

For those items, I might also suggest just bringing your own. A jar of the powdered type of Parmesan you are talking about would easily pack in checked luggage. And a jar of the teriyaki sauce (both unopened) would pack in your carryon. I also think some Italian restaurants might have individual serving size packets of the parmesan cheese that you could get your hands on and take some of those.

I know i've gotten some from our local papa johns- little paper packets filled with the stuff(parmesan cheese)

We've done three cruises and they will pretty much accommodate any request as long as it is available and within reason (like if you don't like the veggie that comes with your meal, they will give you another veggie but it has to be a veggie that they have on hand).

I've seen small packages of powder parm at chain pizza places( wish I could remember where, maybe sbarro?), I'd just grab some of those and I'm sure you can pack a small bottle of teriyaki or they will have on board.

I forgot to mention that since you will have the same servers throughout your cruise, you can tell them what you need that first night then from there they will know what to do every night. That's the good thing about rotational dining.
