It's very possible that while growing up in Canada the word coupon never came up with anyone other than his mom. Once he moved to the states and started living and shopping on his own he probably started hearing it a lot more, but apparently I was the first (and only ) person he's met who says cooopon.

Go figure, I never would have thought about that without this poll, but apparently I change the pronounciation based on whether or not it's plural.
Me too. It's the only word I can think of that I pronounce both of the common ways. And it's random; I don't seem to make a conscious decision about it .
