Random Gift Card Question....

Okay, so I have all of my gift cards purchased for the trip. My question is this: If they have trouble scanning the magnetic strip on the back can they type in the card number and pin?

This will be the first time using gift cards and I am a bit nervous about it. Just need a bit of reassurance here. I know I'm probably worrying for nothing, but i just wanted to ask at the best place I know.

The reason that I'm asking is that I only have some of the receipts for them. My wonderful, insert sarcastic remark here, husband shreds them. I'm hoping that everything is fine, but i'm seriously freaking out here thinking that I have nothing but some very pretty cards.....

I'm not sure about typing in the card number, but I highly recommend photo copies (or pics on your phone) in case they are lost or stolen. That is the only way they will replace them. Last trip we did this for tickets at well and kept he copies in the rooms safe just in case.
