Random DVC website question

We recently purchased DVC and I made our first reservation. When I sign in to the DVC website, it displays how many days are left until our check-in.

It clicks off three days first... BUT... it counts UP for those three days (the number increases). Why do they not start with three days higher than your arrival and count DOWN to it? Wouldn't it generate more excitement/positive feelings to see the number of days DE-creasing?

Does anyone know if there's actually a conscious decision behind using a "reverse" countdown ("countUP?")... perhaps there's some psychological principal behind it that subconsciously makes me want to spend more money? 😉

No idea. This seems to be a recent change - or at least one that I've only noticed recently. IIRC, it used to just show the number of days without any calendar flipping.

Mayb someone just learned how to use that feature of the software and is having some fun? :teeth:

I was wondering the same thing- I thought maybe it was a glitch but it's been like that for about 2 weeks.

I notice it... I get all excited when I first log in and then BAM... add 3 days.... very sad. I think the other way would be better... or just put up the accurate info with no flipping.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it odd that they would tease with me with fewer days and then painfully watch them go UP, UP, UP. ☹

At least it's better than the two big ZEROs that I had to look at while waiting for my points to populate. 😄

They actually coded the site like this for some reason...the flipping clock can count down or up, but its a code issue on the page.
The page does a call for what the page should look like that you see in your browser, that call returns the whole page and number of days to display in the flip clock, which is the actual number of days until your vacation. This would cause no count down or up since it has the actual days until your next vacation. But then the count up/down JS function gets another HTML element that it subtracting from the days the page is coded to display. So if page code displays 30 (no count up or down), using this HTML element below it says 3 days (data-countdown-animation-days-prior="3"), so it changes the display to 27 days and counts up to the correct number of days the page is coded for (30 for example). Not sure what they were thinking on this..but its a code accident, hence the upcount. Maybe its meant to start a countdown 3 days before your vacation and they didnt test it...

I think we should be happy it gets the count right with what Disney IT has shown us of late
