Just went to see Mary Poppins last night. Row B of Dress circle. Damn good seat. Was annoyed I couldn't seem to get row A as it was blacked out no matter when I picked. It was where we sat for Lion King. But with no movement through the audience of the stalls I'd say B is better. Of course assuming you dont get Lurch sitting in front of you

Railing was troubling the kids in A a bit. Although they will give you a cushion.
Show production quality was top notch. The cast was very good. The Orchestra brilliant. My family didn't want to go as they didn't think it was worth the money for not being on Broadway...
The capitol theatre ain't perfect so that may let it down a bit?? But I couldn't see where it provided many constraints. And as for the cast. I think the Aussie cast was great. The Aussie twang in the voice of the cook really made her funny. I took a while to warm to Mary but she was great. Bert was awesome. Again I was a bit unsure as he is young. But he's great.
Thoughts - more specific
At intermission I was a little unsure of my thoughts. The changes in plot from the film were getting a bit strange for me. There is this scene where it goes quite dark and my hesitant reaction was not just me. There was this feeling of....ok...now what...

but the 40 mins after intermission were the best. Just brilliant
You have to go in realizing this isn't the movie on stage. You do get the core story and feed the birds and supercali... And chim chiminie. But there are plot changes and completely new songs and scenes.
So yeah I loved it. My only 'gripe' if you will is the actual story changes. But they pull it together and you kind of need the mood change to get such a wonderful ending.
As for parking I decided to go with the Capital Square carpark which is next door as it was a cold and windy and rainy night last night. Finished about 10:45. But it did take me about 20mins to get along Pitt street from railway square to Campbell street

It was worth the 'hassle' when I was leaving as I didn't have to walk alone in the rain.
But don't dawdle...lol...as you need to still get out of the carpark. I pre paid my $20 after 6 flat rate and went straight to the car and got out quickly. But if you want to fiddle around you'll take a while. So send a representative to get the car while others go to the bathroom etc
