Just got back and I have a few random dining observations...

Biergarten was Schnitzel-icious! I can't believe that I have been to Disney 8 times since '93 and never tried Biergarten until now. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere/service was just plain great. By far the best chessecake - and I'm not a cheescake fan. They work some odd cheeescake magic there.

1st time also at Mama Melrose. I read a few negative reviews, but I always like to decide for myself. I actually thought it was fine. Definitely not the Tostinos Pizza Rolls that I was expecting after reading the reviews. But the gelato isn't traditional gelato. It's just ice cream. But it was good ice cream.

I went to 1900 Park Fare on a bizarre quest for the chilled strawberry soup but got so sidetracked by watching my daughter with the characters that I forgot to try it. I had a massive "V8" moment later that night when I realized what I did. Now I have to go back.

The Plaza - another first - has fantastic sandwiches and a wicked tomato bisque soup.

Liberty Tree Tavern's family style meal really turned us all off this time. Maybe my taste buds have just matured, but it tasted like TV dinner fare. Not that it matters because I love the character interaction and the atmosphere there. The have a great Goofy - he was hilarious. My daughter is a major Goofy fan and she couldn't believe how funny he was.

I also forgot my beloved Dole Whip. I know alot of people are non-plussed by Dole Whips, but I really, really love them.

Lastly, the portions in Le Chefs de France (sp?) are HUGE. My oldest son and I ordered the ham & cheese sandwiches for lunch. We kept looking for the French family that we thought must have been hiding around the corner to share it with us. I should have known that it was coming after the size of the French Onion soup. Maybe they super size, but it was way too much food. But the creme brule was amazing. Oddly enough, I had wished there was more ;) .

Thanks for the observations, you mentioned a lot of places we have not tried yet that we may just have to get to! I will say, I posted a thread about Biergarten after our Oct 2006 trip saying exactly what you did..."what took us so long?" We love dining all around "The World" and for some reason never got around to BG. When we finally did, we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, the service, the beer and the FOOD! Wow, talk about an orgy of meats! I loved just about everything. My DD went crazy for the schnitzel and I was in spaetzle heaven! DH and I juust soaked up the ambiance while DD made tons of friends jumping around the dance floor while the band played. It was a very good experience.

I'm really happy to read your review of Mama Melrose's. We're trying it next week (next Wed to be exact) and I also felt that I needed to try it for myself. It's still good to hear a good review and I chuckled out loud about Tostinos Pizza Rolls comment.

My family has gone to the Biergarten before and liked it. We're trying a different place this year (Rose & Crown) because we've been doing the same old, but your comments on Biergarten make me sad that we're not going there next week. Oh well - there's always the NEXT Disney trip!

It's so true that there are many Disney restaurants that just seem to fly under the radar. Biergarten will be a place that tops our list from now on. Yet there are so many others I'd like to try.

By the way.....what exactly did I miss about the Park Fare strawberry soup? Anyone?...

Thanks for posting your mini-reviews! I am glad to hear your thoughts on Biergarten and Mamas. We are trying them next month for the first time :cool1:
I forgot about the Strawberry Soup at Park Faire also when we went, I was so annoyed when I remembered!

Did you enjoy your food at 1900 Park Fair?

We were there this past Monday night and were pretty much NOT impressed. I had been there once before many years ago and thought it was pretty good. I found it quite paltry for a buffet.

I also don't have small children (I have a 15 year old and 12 year old) and the decibel level in that place was bordering on an Aerosmith concert!!;)

We were there last Wednesday and thought that it was okay, not fantastic like Biergarten, but okay. The adult offerings were fine, if a bit bland. I wasn't crazy about the kids buffet for my two younger ones. I still can't believe that I forgot to try the stawberry soup....did you try it?

I toally agree with you on this....it's the only place that I will not go back.

We really enjoyed LTT. I think the pleasant memories are because all three kids (even the very picky eater) loved their food....it's so much nicer to hear a kid say "this is great" rather than "ewwww".

Actually I have heard that alot of kids really like the mac & cheese there. It just seemed really thick the night we went. Maybe it was just an off night.

I've been reading some of the reviews about MM and thought we were crazy because we LOVED the food there last June. We ate there with the FDP and we thought it was one of our best meals that week. We're going back in June to try it again so I hope it's still good.
