Random concoction of post DL trip thoughts

havent read all the comments but enjoyed reading this, we are flying into SNA with Southwest its the first time any of us have flown :crazy2: but I am excited for a 4 hr flight as opposed to a 30 hr drive:yay: im gonna look into some of your meal suggestions I have always wanted to try the monte cristo and the fries from Cafe Orleans but im afraid I will be the only one who likes anything in there!!

My other issue here was that the CM at the register was a turd about taking my digital DVC card. He kept going on about how they have been instructed not to give a discount for ANY card they don't physically have. He went on in a really loud and obnoxious fashion despite me showing him from the DVC page where it says "Take a screenshot of this and show it to a cast member." He gave me a discount 'just this one time' but refused to acknowledge that this MAY just be legit and he might be misinformed.
In defense of the CM, there has been a major issue with CMs giving friends discounts, so they are not supposed to give any discounts without a hard card. The DVC website I see says " To receive any of these offers or promotions, you must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a corresponding valid photo I.D. " If you didn't have the hard card, he is supposed to call a lead to enter it. (And it takes 5+ mins to get a lead at Rancho as I had to when my Premier card was coming up not valid for discounts...)

We too had a bad experience at Tony Roma's. My dad loves ribs and we've had decent experiences at other locations but this was just not good... and they use SUPER CHEAP wine glasses which really hurt the bottle of wine we were trying to use to ignore the sub-standard food. We had a great meal at Morton's next to the Sheraton later that week that made up for everything though.
what are some other places that are good? Im looking for Fathers Day dinner he likes ribs and burgers

Our first visit we stayed at HoJos. One of the things I didn't like was the lack of dining options along that stretch of Harbor.

Mimi's, right across the street from HoJo's, is actually quite good. Especially for breakfast.

DVC has recently added a digital membership card to DVC Owners accounts. You can either download and print or take a screen shot of it. My screen shot has the actual instructions on it right above my card so both are visible.

Thank you for sharing. I'm reading as much as I can about DL. Very helpful reviews! I went when I was 11 and DH and I went in 2000, but with our girls , we've only been to WDW in 2010 and 2015.

The best thing I can possibly recommend is go early into the parks, like be there 30 minutes before opening. Those first few hours are priceless. My dh and I rode splash at about 915 am, separately, and we both had our own log. It was really fun. We would have lunch in the parks, head to the hotel for a nap, and then come back in around dinner time. My dd8 never naps and my dd4 only does about once a week. Both girls would willingly sleep for about two hours at a time. So did we, actually.

This is coming from someone who hates getting up early for anything. Especially on vacation!

You had the wrong thing at Hungry Bear! The Fried Green Tomato Sandwich is the only way to go! :)

My last AP before the non-epiration date version had stopped scanning for discounts and that CMs would manually enter it. I would probably ask Disney to replace the card if it had required a lead for each purchase.

This is also why I'm not a fan of using my phone to get into the parks. Sure, I can get in, but I can't get discounts or use FP without the AP anyway. And I'd rather have my AP in my pocket than my phone, which usually starts a park day still in my bag.

Wow, I didn't know that! Thank you. So what's good at Hungry Bear now? Anything else change?
The whole menu changed. IMO the caesar wrap looked unappetizing and the salad might be ok with other dressing, but I wasn't willing to try. It's a skip now for me.

We went specifically because I had read about the fried green tomato sandwich and that it was so good. The Ceasar wrap didn't look good at all. My husband was surprised I got the burger and fries when I ordered but I told him the wrap looked like it could go really wrong. I expected a wrap just oozing with dressing :crazy2:
