Okay, this is going to seem really dumb, so bear with me.

My dad and I went on a two-week trip to Ireland, Wales, and England this past summer. We had what everyone called bacon while we were over there. Now, we have bacon here, but our bacon is different than what we got that was bacon while we were there. So, anyways, my question is, what part is that? And how do I go about getting and making it? I loved it much more than our bacon here, and whenever I talk about it, people just stare at me and think I'm nuts.

You guys probably do too, now! :lmao:

I'm Canadian and I think English Bacon in Canada was called 'Back Bacon'.

I'm sure if you google it someone in the US will supply 'English' Bacon and you can get your fix! :thumbsup2

im not sure about back bacon but my mom has always said to me it is cut alot thinner in the states.

We have both back bacon and streaky bacon. Steaky is like the stuff served at breakfast buffets in the US (always cooked to a crisp). Back bacon has more meat and less fat than streaky.

It is, its the nearest we have come across to proper bacon, we have relatives in Thessalon and Hamilton in Ontario and they get it in when ever anyone goes over.:thumbsup2

Here is what you are looking for
the best Irish bacon you can get

go on treat yourself Galtee bacon

Oh my gosh! You guys are great! I've been craving some forever. I hate fat, so I loved this kind.

I'll have to call my aunt who is over by Frankenmuth and have her bring some when she visits next week.

I'm so excited!:yay:

How refreshing to see a bacon thread working this way round!

I can never understand why the mostly-fat streaky bacon, burnt to a crsip, is so popular in the USA. I'd love to be able to get some proper British bacon with my American pancakes and Canadian Maple Syrup while breakfasting at WDW. :) A nice rasher of lean back bacon with a fried egg is what it's all about!
