Random advice for future visitors....... :)

wow.

I can't imagine teaching my family that it is not only fun to make a joke of other people but also making a game out of it.

Were you the one making fun of the people who thought there was an "American" Canada and a "France" Canada?

Ahhhh ~ relating a funny story. Not creating a bingo game to teach my children to make fun of others.

Two different things. IMHO. It is NOT my fault that the education system here allows a child to graduate from HIGH school not knowing that there is only ONE Canada.

Something my almost 5 year old knows. I didn't point out this indiscretion to my 5 year old and have her tic it off her scavenger hunt card.

Who said anything about a five year old? You are chastising others when you do something very similar:

We are also big repeaters of things we hear people say that make us giggle.

I do the same, and don't fault you for doing it. But making fun of what people say (what you do) and how they behave (the bingo game) seem similar to me.

One head scratcher for me were the people wearing jeans....seriously...denim in 90 degree plus heat with humidity???

personally, for me who is ghost-white and burns just being out in the sun for a mere 20 minutes, covering my skin is a necessity.....

Me, it's a genetic propensity towards skin cancer, so if I was to go during the summer months, I'd be resurrecting the Miami Vice look w/white linen pants.:)

On the contrary. Hearing something unsolicited that makes you giggle is not the same as making a punch card to seek out people to make fun of.

And about the 5 year old.... just saying that I wouldn't teach my children to seek out others to make fun of.

To each their own. It's the statement I find funny. Not the person. I find it sad actually (my story you are quoting).

The one rule we live by.

Relax and have a good time. (while respecting those around us) :thumbsup2

Sueellen...you take exception to me and my post. Let's stop this please. I am really sorry it got you so riled up. I did not mean to offend. You think I am a bad example. I don't. We don't agree.

I have already publicly apologized to anyone who found it offensive. I have already stated that I respect anyone who took offense and their right to feel that way. I feel no need to do so a second time.

If you would like to talk to me about this I would be more than happy to talk to you in a private message. We can discuss my parenting choices, the Provinces of Canada and why I think mullets and thongs sticking out of the back of a pair of pants, aka a whale tail, are funny ad infinitum. You take issue with me so, talk to me, but let's stop cluttering the thread.

I hope you are ready to get flamed for this comment. Some here on the Dis think the female body is a beautiful thing that should be shown off as much as possible, even in front of your young kids.

About the only thing worse you could mention would be breast feeding, that really gets the blood boiling.

Not sure what you are speaking of - the female body is a beautiful thing but who here thinks it should be "shown off"? I cannot recall any threads advocating a nudist Magic Kingdom.

However breasts on display for feeding are also beautiful and can be in public ... since it is the law. Young kids can know how babies are fed.

If you have been to Disney at least once we all have had someone stop in front of us and look at a map

We have had a person cut in front of you in line and at the parade

We have had the crazy stroller driver

It is all in how you react to it that makes the difference.
You are in DISNEY that is all that matters :lovestruc

Yup, exactly. :thumbsup2

Interestingly, after reading this thread, I think that I may just stop and laugh at a few things that otherwise might have gotten under my skin on our trip in August!

Thanks OP!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

And yes, some people need to lighten up. And some people need to add an ounce or two of sensitivity into the mix. And the rest of us who truly are perfect will continue to laugh at all of you while you're working on those things.

So please continue with the mullets, letting the girls hang out, and running over people with your EVR's. Many of us enjoy those things immensely.

Ultimately, the most fun of all is watching the people who really and genuinely get ticked off about some of this stuff. Seriously, you guys that get all red in the face and act as if somebody just trampled on the Constitution in front of you? You're a ton of fun!! So thanks.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: <---------That's me laughing at you!

You know I find myself chuckling at how out of control these threads get. When my family and I are at Disney, nothing else matters. Not the cut of your shorts, the clothing you are wearing, the stroller, the ECV, the map reading people, the Brazilians, the mugs from past years....... the only thing that matters is that we are on vacation and at DISNEY!!! :cool1:
We have bumped into map reading people before - the strategy we use is ask them if they need help finding something while nudging them off to the side out of people's way. And as far as ECVs/Strollers - accidents happen. Both parties need to show courtesy and care. In all of the situations mentioned, I see multiple opportunities to teach my 9 yr old DS kindness, tolerance, courtesy and caring. :hippie:

this is awesome!!! almost all the hot topics in one thread. now we can sit and watch the mayhem unfold until this thread is closed :rotfl2:

I think you're a good example considering you are trying to limit the drama.
I think your post is hilarious! I want to start making my bingo cards! We always play the how many times will my heels get ran over by a stroller without a sorry....the highest tally was 10 times in one day (still have scars!)

Thanks for a good laugh

My one bit of advice?

Tolerance. Let the minor irritations slide off you like water off a duck. Accept that everyone will not look or act or dress or operate like you. Accept that there are thousands of different ways to see the world and while you might have found the most efficient way to see the world. I might choose a more relaxed pace over efficiency.

:thumbsup2

I completely agree.
