We don't leave until October either (and it's now official...I got my signed time off request form back today!), and I'm still finding all sorts of fun things to do to help pass the time!
I've become a HUGE fan of the Creative DISigns board, and am currently downloading images to make T-shirts for myself, DH, and DS7. Since we'll need nine days' worth of shirts (I don't believe in doing laundry while on vacation), that'll keep me plenty busy in the days leading up to our trip!
We're driving to WDW, so I'm researching fun things to do on road trips...
I'm stocking our "Disney Box O' Fun" for our road trip. I make it a point on each pay period to buy something for the box. So far, I have the Cinderella, Little Mermaid, and Surf's Up DVDs, Disney Fruit Snacks (Cars and Nemo), and two mini-remote controls cars I got at the
Disney Store for $2 each. Some items will be given to DS during the road trip, and others will go in the Tink gift bags I'll be making up...
I'm also working on workbooks for DS, since we'll be pulling him out of school for six days (our last day is Columbus Day, so he'll already be off school). I'm scouring boards and books for pages and will most likely have several reams of sheets by the time we leave! This doesn't include whatever his 2nd grade teacher will be giving him (if anything)...
I've compiled and will be printing a bunch of autograph cards (thanks to the many DISigners!). These will be going into an accordian folder and we can pull them out for signatures. This way, they'll be organized for the scrapbook/autograph book I'll be putting together after the trip. Same thing for the Epcot Passport. I'll also be printing out a WDW journal for DS to complete while we're in WDW. These items will most likely end up as a school project for DS...
We're going through our luggage and seeing what else we may need to order from DH's workplace (he works for a luggage/sports bag company and gets a SWEET discount!)...
DH is readying the camcorder and debating whether to use ours (which is a mini-DVD recorder and only records 30 minutes at a time) or borrow may parents' camcorder (which is an 8MM and records 90 minutes, but lacks the digital feature). He and I are also arguing about getting a second digital camera for the trip, but I think I may have figured a way around this one where he CAN'T fight back (how can he oppose something that's free?)...
Since our summers are SO jam-packed with activities, we're trying to get stuff done here and there rather than trying to cram it all into a couple of weeks. Plus, I'll be back in school in the fall, so I'll be losing 2-3 nights a week and a good chunk of my Saturdays come the last week of August.
And yes, DH thinks I'm absolutely nuts...
