DH and I started working out and running in March. We ran/walked our first 10 K in anticipation of our trip to Disney for the 1/2 marathon. I can't say I was great, I did hit tthe wall and DH pulled me through. But the upside was it was a small town race and ... :cool1: I won a medal!!!! THere were only 2 women in my age group 40-44. I came in 2nd!!! Do I have to admit she was 9 onths pregnant and is a runner but slowed considerably due to her condition!!! :rotfl2:

Any, my question about Disney.. I had a tough time with hydration. THere was nothing to drink til mile 3! The race started late, little shade, rocky road am I whining? ANyway, I got too thirsy. Then we were only given water. I think that really hurt my speed and my spirit.

So, hwere are the locations for drinks in Disney for the half? What do they serve?

Thanks All!!!

WDw has a good supply of drinks. I cant remember exactly, but pretty much every mile. If you go to the website & looks at the course map it will show you where the water stations are. They serve water & watered down powerade. I usually took one of both. BTW, great job on the race!!! :thumbsup2 Come join us on our weekly training thread.

Hi Princess Nancy! Welcome to WISH!

I think the water/power ade was amply supplied for the event. If you are concerned for the beginning of the race you could hang onto a small bottle of water while you are in corrals and just starting. I did that because I really need that hydration and I brought something with me to eat as in breakfast while waiting for the start, and I sweat a ton so I make sure I have a sufficient amount in the beginning while being careful to not over hydrate. The rest of the course I used whatever was supplied.

Please do join or WISH Team group on the weekly thread. Many are training for the January event as well as other events and we support each other along the way. We'd love to have you join in.

Thanks! That is all good advice and comforting news. I will look at the map and I will check out your training thread. I am resting today, and kicking into high gear tomorrow! Thanks all!

According to my handy dandy information, it looks like there were 9 aid stations for the half last year and 22 for the full. From what I remember of the full, the aid stations are slightly further apart in the beginning of the race and become more frequent as you progress. There are also no aid stations in the "on stage" sections of the theme parks-- but there is one right before entering or right after leaving.

Hope that helps!
Kevin :earsboy:
