Ramada South?

So, deciding to take the planning in her hands, my mom went off and booked us a room at the Ramada South for our mini-trip March 31-April 1. Not at all where it would stay. I don't know anything about it! Anyone ever stayed there?

Very frustrated because she asked which hotels I was looking at and I told her any on Harbor between Katella and Manchester. DH and I have a 3yr old, my mom and aunt who are coming are turning 60, though Mom's in good shape, my aunt gets winded, and I'll be 32 (I think) weeks pregnant! I was hoping for a close hotel. :Le sigh:

I really shouldn't b*tch. She decided she'd pay for the room. Just sucks when I've been on this board, researched, etc and it gets pulled out from under me!

I have no idea where that is. Any chance of canceling and booking even the ramada plaza instead?

You're a grown person and you do not have to stay where she chooses if it doesn't work for you.

I don't think I have ever heard of a Ramada South near the park. I've heard of the Ramada Inn Main gate (on Harbor) and the Ramada Plaza (I think that's the name) which is also nearby. I'd see about switching if I were you. I'd politely thank her for taking into her own hands and paying and maybe bring up that you have researched a lot about where to stay. Then suggest a few that you have looked into. Maybe she will happily switch to one of your picks. Otherwise I'd decline the offer and pay for my own room. Good luck!

That looks pretty far away from the parks and the reviews I glanced at on tripadvisor mentioned roaches. Ick. And it's not rated very high on trip adviser either. Maybe suggest a closer, higher rated hotel within walking distance. You could say it would be nice to be able to walk to go back for naps for your 3 year old and rest for your aunt. Maybe suggest ramada maingate? I'm thinking it might be easier for her to switch reservations to the same chain? Maybe show her on a map how far it is and explain the time and cost to ride art? Did she tell you her reasoning to pick that hotel?

This hotel is on Harbor, past the Convention Center, past W Orangewood, Google Maps says it 1 and 1/2 miles way!! Thank your Mom. Remind her your Auntys aren't spry as she is. Then Cancel the room. And book a Different Hotel. 1600 S Harbor Blvd is the address I when looking a close hotel.

It definitely was not the best towards one of the worst actually! Check in and out was easy peasy. The size of the room was very comfy. The dislikes is that THERE WERE THREE ROACHES IN THE BATHROOM/ TUB AND ALL THE BED SHEETS WERE DIRTY!

Horrible experience. Hotel looked nothing like the photos online. Everything was outdated, old, and dirty. This is also a privately owned hotel that is only affiliated with Ramada, so its not apart of the corporate branches. Beware

This a great inter-active map of the hotel on Harbor, you can your dates, number of beds. And gives you a Top 20 list Hotel. I hope map will make it simpler for you. It shows you the entrance to the Disney parks.

Thanks everyone! We had a talk, she was able to cancel, and I booked the kids room at Del Sol! Much better. Those reviews for Ramada South are horrible! No wonder it's so cheap! (The reason she booked it in the first place)

the fact that its so cheap is tempting me....but we will have our vehicle so its not a big deal to drive to the parking lot...but still can't decide. I'm currently booked at the Desert Inn Suites $800 vs $280 leaves a lot extra to spend in park....

We'll have our car too, but I'm not paying $8/day to park at the hotel AND $16/day at the Disney lot!
I do see being tempted to take the better price. I was until I read the reviews and thought about how we like to tour.

true, but we will have parking on our season passes, BUT it says they have a small parking lot and often run out. I really want to be able to just walk across the street to the park, and not lug the stroller into the bus/tram because although we are local, we haven't had passes in 3 years and this is our "vacation" so I want to vacation close, and in a clean hotel LOL

just checked and del sol will save us 200$ so I changed the reservation there, awesome!
