I was there for 1 night and although my stay was OK, I wouldn't recommend it because of the following:
Checked in and was given a room in the 2400 bldg. Requested to 4000 section and was told there was no 4000 section. So since I was solo, I dragged my luggage from the car to my room, inserted the room key and got a red light. Tried the other room key, same thing. I then had to lug my stuff back to the car, load it up and head back to the lobby. Room keys were reloaded, then off to my room again. Once more, neither key worked. Another trip back to the lobby and complained, again requesting the 4000 that was on the map. I was sternly told there was NO 4000 section and she put a big X through it - my guess is it’s only for people who pay top $$. But I was given a new room in the 1600 bldg., 2nd floor - was fine, but not much parking near here.

Although this resort is recently updated, it's basically superficial. New coats of paint and clean rooms give it a great look, but once you're in the room, that's where the problems start. In my room, the heater/air conditioner/fan unit didn't work at all. Come to find out, there were numerous complaints I heard at checkout - no hot water, no heat, etc. and that was in the 5 minutes I was there. One furious guy asked to speak to the supervisor and was told the supervisor wasn't in and they couldn't help him.

Also be aware of the hidden resort fee: $10.65 attached per day and not told of up front.

Other than that, location was great and that’s the only good thing about it!!!!

HTH someone who is thinking about this resort!!! :confused3

thanks!!!

your review is at least better than the ones on tripadvisor.

really don't understand what happened to this place. It was a Hyatt - don't see how Ramada could have ruin it so quick.

Don't know about it being a former Hyatt, but do know I passed it many times over the past year or two and it had sat unused for that time with a chainlink fence around it. Looks like they came in, slapped a coat of paint on, made the lobby really nice (great 1st impressions!) then did nothing more than rent out rooms with maintenance problems "as is".

We "won" this place through Priceline for $35 per night. Turns out some people get it for $27 per night. Upon check-in, I was told of an additional $10 nightly fee. When I questioned it, he said, "You did use Priceline, right?" It made me wonder if it's their way around the system, to accept cheap bids and then add mandatory fees.

Parking was nice & convenient to our room.

Housekeeping was amazing. They were some of the kindest, hardworking ladies I've ever seen in a hotel. They really went above and beyond. I had OJ sitting on ice one day, and I guess it had melted some and she went and refilled it for me. They also did all sorts of fancy things w/ our towels & washcloths which was a nice added touch.

I felt safe there. We drove through some other places on Irlo just to see if there was anything else cheap that we'd like, and I'll tell you there are some scary places down there. I felt fortunate we ended up where we did. I don't know if I could book blindly again now that I've seen some of the other places.

The Wifi was spotty, at best. Not dependable for sure. DH could tell the problem was with the provider, not the router or our computer. One day it would work for an hour, and another day not at all.

Ice machines were a huge issue. We were in the 9000 bldg and the machine wasn't working. We had to walk 2 bldgs over or across the courtyard. Sometimes the machines that did work only put out a few pcs of ice at a time. I got the impression from watching other guests walking all around w/ ice buckets that I wasn't the only one having problems. If I had my guess I'd say the machines were from 1970.

There was also no bathroom fan, which made for a musty bathroom due to the humidity and steam from the shower just sitting there. No tub either, just a stand up shower. The curtain had mildew by the end of the 9 nights, I guess due to the constant moisture in the air.

I'd stay there again in a pinch. Like I said, I felt safe and our room was clean. The fee really ticked me off, as well as spending 15 min. per day looking for ice.

We stayed there last August for 2 nights.

First, having no elevators was NOT fun!! Dragging all of that luggage up and down the stairs is not my idea of a vacation.

Second, we had to change rooms THREE times before we found one with a working air conditioner and let me tell you, in August that is the #1 priority for any hotel room! What really sucked was that the AC went out in our 2nd room at 2:00AM so we had to pack everything up and move 2 buildings away in the middle of the night.

They had not implemented the resort fee when we stayed, thank goodness because I would NOT have paid and additional fee. I also see on tripadvisor that this hotel now charges a separate parking fee in addition to the resort fee!!!

By the time you add all of the extra fees to the nightly rate, it's no longer a good rate IMHO.
